Financial Advisor Jobs in Alabama: Frequently Asked Questions
How do you become a financial advisor in Alabama?
To become a financial advisor in Alabama, you need to pass the FINRA Series 7 exam to sell securities and register with the Alabama Securities Commission through FINRA's Central Registration Depository. Most roles also require the Series 66 or the Series 63 and 65 combination. Advisors who sell insurance products must hold an Alabama Department of Insurance license. A bachelor's degree in finance or a related field is the standard educational baseline most Alabama employers expect.
Which companies hire financial advisors in Alabama?
Alabama financial advisor roles are posted by Northwestern Mutual, United Placement, and First Command Financial Services and others right now, based on current listings on Migrate Mate as of September 2026. Alabama's concentration of regional banks, insurance carriers, and independent broker-dealers gives the state a broad mix of employer types hiring across Birmingham, Huntsville, and beyond.
Which Alabama cities have the most financial advisor jobs?
Birmingham, Mobile, and Huntsville lead Alabama in financial advisor openings. Birmingham's status as the state's commercial and banking center drives the largest share, while Huntsville's rapid growth in professional services and defense-sector wealth has expanded its advisory market, and Mobile's port economy and regional insurance presence support a steady pipeline of openings in the south.
Are there remote financial advisor jobs in Alabama?
Yes, though they remain limited compared to purely desk-based fields, because relationship management and client prospecting still favor in-person contact. About 50% of financial advisor openings tied to Alabama are remote or hybrid as of September 2026, with the remote share concentrated in financial planning, paraplanning, and investment analysis roles that rely less on face-to-face client development.
How can I get hired as a financial advisor in Alabama with little or no experience?
The most realistic entry path is joining a large regional bank or wirehouse as a financial advisor associate or client services representative, then working toward your FINRA registrations while on the job. Regions Financial and Protective Life both run structured development programs in Birmingham for candidates without a full advisory background. Roles such as bank teller, personal banker, or insurance customer service representative are common lateral moves into entry-level advisory tracks. Earning your Series 7 before you apply gives you a clear edge in a competitive entry-level pool.
Where can I find and apply to financial advisor jobs in Alabama?
You can find and apply to financial advisor jobs in Alabama on Migrate Mate, which lists current openings from employers hiring across the state right now. Search the roles available, identify the ones that match your experience and credentials, and apply directly to the positions that fit.
