Financial Consultant Jobs in West Virginia: Frequently Asked Questions
How do you become a financial consultant in West Virginia?
To work as a financial consultant in West Virginia, you typically need a bachelor's degree in finance, accounting, or a related field, followed by passing the FINRA Series 65 exam to register as an Investment Adviser Representative with the West Virginia Securities Division. Some roles also require a Series 7 license. Most candidates begin in associate or financial analyst roles at regional banks or insurance firms before advancing to full client-facing consultant positions.
Which companies hire financial consultants in West Virginia?
West Virginia financial consultant roles are posted by Mon Health, CAMC Health System, and CVS Health and others right now, based on current listings on Migrate Mate as of July 2026. Regional community banks, credit unions, and insurance carriers with deep West Virginia roots account for a large share of the consistent hiring across the state.
Which West Virginia cities have the most financial consultant jobs?
Charleston, Morgantown, and West Virginia have the most financial consultant openings in West Virginia. Charleston leads as the state's commercial and government center, anchoring the largest share of banking and insurance headquarters, while Huntington and Morgantown generate steady demand through regional bank branches, university-affiliated financial services, and a growing professional services sector.

Yes, and more than many client-facing roles, since much financial planning work is conducted over phone and video. About 40% of financial consultant openings tied to West Virginia are remote or hybrid as of July 2026, reflecting the desk-based nature of portfolio analysis and client advisory work. Fully remote roles are most common in financial planning, insurance sales, and investment advisory, where client relationships do not require in-person meetings.
