Financial Director Jobs in Washington: Frequently Asked Questions
How do you become a financial director in Washington?
The most direct path in Washington begins with a bachelor's degree in finance, accounting, or business, followed by earning a CPA license through the Washington State Board of Accountancy, which requires passing the Uniform CPA Exam and meeting Washington's education and experience requirements. From there, most candidates build experience in financial analysis or accounting management roles before moving into director-level positions. An MBA or CMA designation strengthens candidacy, particularly with Washington's large technology and healthcare employers.
Which companies hire financial directors in Washington?
Employers hiring financial directors in Washington right now include EY, BDA, and PACCAR, based on current listings on Migrate Mate as of November 2026. Washington's concentration of global technology headquarters, major aerospace operations, and large regional health systems creates consistent director-level demand across multiple industries year-round.
Which Washington cities have the most financial director jobs?
Seattle, Vancouver, and Lacey have the most financial director openings in Washington. Seattle drives the largest share through its density of technology firms, financial services companies, and major hospital networks, while Bellevue and Redmond reflect the corporate headquarters and campus operations of employers like Microsoft and a wide range of mid-size tech companies that have established their finance functions on the Eastside.
Are there remote financial director jobs in Washington?
Yes, and more than many senior roles, because financial director work is heavily analytical, reporting-focused, and can be performed effectively outside a central office. About 75% of financial director openings tied to Washington are remote or hybrid as of November 2026, reflecting the strong remote culture among Washington's technology sector employers. Strategic planning, FP&A oversight, and board reporting functions are the parts of the role most commonly performed remotely.
How can I get hired as a financial director in Washington with little or no experience?
The most realistic entry path is through a senior financial analyst or finance manager role at a Washington-based technology company, health system, or aerospace employer, where internal promotion into director-level positions is common. Large Washington employers like Providence, Kaiser Permanente Washington, and Boeing run rotational finance programs and structured development tracks that move high-performing analysts toward leadership roles. Earning a CPA through the Washington State Board of Accountancy or completing an MBA at the University of Washington or Seattle University significantly improves candidacy for that upward move.
Where can I find and apply to financial director jobs in Washington?
You can find and apply to financial director jobs in Washington on Migrate Mate, which lists current openings from employers actively hiring in the state. Search the available roles, identify the ones that match your background and target industry, and apply directly to each position that fits.
