Most fund accountants in New Jersey start with a bachelor's degree in accounting or finance, then pursue CPA licensure through the New Jersey State Board of Accountancy, which requires passing the Uniform CPA Examination and meeting New Jersey's education and experience requirements. Many candidates enter through staff accountant or financial analyst roles at asset managers, banks, or fund administrators before moving into dedicated fund accounting positions.
How much do fund accountants make in New Jersey?
Fund accountants in New Jersey earn a median of about $100,830 a year, based on May 2025 Bureau of Labor Statistics wage data, ranging from around $65,710 for the lowest 10% to over $167,080 for the top 10%. Pay rises with experience, specialty, and employer.

Which New Jersey cities have the most fund accountant jobs?

Jersey City dominates because of its proximity to Wall Street and its large back-office presence for major financial institutions, while Newark and Princeton draw openings from insurance giants, university endowments, and regional asset managers anchored in those corridors.
Are there remote fund accountant jobs in New Jersey?
Yes, and more than many finance roles, since fund accounting is largely desk-based and systems-driven.
