Hospitalist Physician Jobs in Georgia: Frequently Asked Questions
How do you become a hospitalist physician in Georgia?
To become a hospitalist physician in Georgia, you must complete medical school, finish a residency in internal medicine or family medicine, and obtain a Georgia medical license through the Georgia Composite Medical Board, which requires passing USMLE or COMLEX examinations. Most Georgia health systems also require board certification or active board eligibility. After licensure, physicians pursue hospital credentialing and privileges at their employing institution before beginning clinical practice.
How much do hospitalist physicians make in Georgia?
Hospitalist physicians in Georgia earn a median of about $425,460 a year, based on May 2025 Bureau of Labor Statistics wage data, ranging from around $103,490 for the lowest 10% to over $581,750 for the top 10%. Pay rises with experience, specialty, and employer.
Which companies hire hospitalist physicians in Georgia?
Employers hiring hospitalist physicians in Georgia right now include TeamHealth, 77 Consultants, and Wellstar Health System, based on current listings on Migrate Mate as of August 2026. Georgia's large integrated health systems and academic medical centers are among the most consistent sources of hospitalist openings in the state year-round.
Which Georgia cities have the most hospitalist physician jobs?
Augusta, Dublin, and Savannah have the most hospitalist physician openings in Georgia. Atlanta drives the largest share of demand given its concentration of major health systems and academic medical centers, while Augusta's strength is anchored by Augusta University Health and the surrounding Veterans Affairs medical campus, and Savannah draws consistent need from expanding regional systems serving coastal Georgia's growing population.
Are there remote hospitalist physician jobs in Georgia?
Yes, but they're rare. Hospitalist medicine is an inherently bedside discipline, so the vast majority of roles require full on-site presence for rounding, admissions, and patient care. About 0% of hospitalist physician openings tied to Georgia are remote or hybrid as of August 2026, and those positions are almost exclusively in telemedicine or telephonic triage roles rather than traditional inpatient hospital medicine.
How can I get hired as a hospitalist physician in Georgia with little or no experience?
The most realistic entry path is applying directly to post-residency hospitalist positions at Georgia health systems that recruit new graduates, including Emory Healthcare, WellStar, and Piedmont Healthcare, all of which regularly onboard physicians completing internal medicine residency with no prior attending experience. New graduates gain an edge by completing Georgia Composite Medical Board licensure before job searching and by highlighting procedural skills and high-volume patient loads from residency. Some systems also offer structured mentorship tracks or nocturnist roles designed to ease the transition from training to independent hospital practice.
Where can I find and apply to hospitalist physician jobs in Georgia?
You can find and apply to hospitalist physician jobs in Georgia on Migrate Mate, which lists current Georgia openings from employers actively hiring in the state. Find roles that fit your experience level and specialty focus, then apply directly through the listing.
