Human Resources Associate Jobs in San Diego: Frequently Asked Questions
How do I get a human resources associate job in San Diego?
Target San Diego's largest hiring sectors first: defense contractors in Kearny Mesa, hospital systems and biotech firms in Torrey Pines and Sorrento Valley, and hotel and resort groups in Mission Valley and downtown. Candidates who can demonstrate experience with high-volume recruiting or onboarding stand out in these markets. Familiarity with government contractor compliance is a real edge for roles tied to the defense sector.
Which companies hire human resources associates in San Diego?
Employers hiring human resources associates in San Diego right now include ACES ABA, Sharp HealthCare, and SpringHill Suites by Marriott Oceanside, based on current listings on Migrate Mate as of September 2026. San Diego's mix of large hospital networks, defense primes, and mid-size biotech and tech firms means steady openings across both corporate HR teams and lean HR departments where associates handle a broad scope of responsibilities.
Are there remote human resources associate jobs in San Diego?
Yes, though with limits, human resources associate work that involves onboarding, employee relations, or in-person coordination tends to stay on-site, while benefits administration and HR data tasks can shift remote. About 31% of human resources associate openings tied to San Diego are remote or hybrid as of September 2026. Tech and professional services firms in the area offer the most remote-eligible positions within this role.
How can I get a human resources associate job in San Diego with little or no experience?
The most realistic entry path in San Diego is through HR coordinator or HR assistant roles at the city's large healthcare systems, hotel groups, or defense contractors, which regularly hire at the entry level. Volunteering with a San Diego-based nonprofit or completing an HR internship tied to UC San Diego or San Diego State University programs can build the credentials and local network that hiring managers here respond to.
