Human Resources Intern Jobs in Texas: Frequently Asked Questions
How do you become a human resources intern in Texas?
Becoming a human resources intern in Texas typically starts with enrollment in a business administration, HR management, psychology, or related degree program at a Texas college or university. No state-issued HR license is required to intern, but completing coursework toward a degree is the standard hiring requirement. Many Texas employers also value candidates who are working toward a professional certification such as the SHRM-CP, which the Society for Human Resource Management offers to students.
How much do human resources interns make in Texas?
Human resources interns in Texas earn a median of about $47,540 a year, based on May 2025 Bureau of Labor Statistics wage data, ranging from around $32,180 for the lowest 10% to over $64,940 for the top 10%. Pay rises with experience, specialty, and employer.
Which companies hire human resources interns in Texas?
Employers hiring human resources interns in Texas right now include Service Corporation International, Lennox International, and Braun Intertec, based on current listings on Migrate Mate as of June 2026. Texas's concentration of Fortune 500 headquarters, major hospital networks, and large retail and energy companies means structured HR internship programs are relatively common compared to most states.
Which Texas cities have the most human resources intern jobs?
Austin, Houston, and Dallas have the most human resources intern openings in Texas. Houston's energy, healthcare, and logistics sectors drive volume there, Dallas attracts corporate HR programs tied to the city's deep pool of financial services and retail headquarters, and Austin's growing technology industry has added consistent demand for HR interns who can support fast-scaling teams.
Are there remote human resources intern jobs in Texas?
Yes, and they are more common than in many fields, since a good portion of HR intern work involves document processing, data entry, and administrative coordination that can be done remotely. About 10% of human resources intern openings tied to Texas are remote or hybrid as of June 2026, reflecting the desk-based nature of much of the role. Tasks like employee onboarding support and HRIS data work are the most likely to be offered in a remote or hybrid format.
How can I get hired as a human resources intern in Texas with little or no experience?
The most realistic entry path is applying to structured internship programs at large Texas employers while still in school, since many are designed specifically for students without prior HR experience. Companies like Dell Technologies, Lockheed Martin, and major Texas health systems such as Texas Health Resources run new-student HR programs that treat coursework as the primary qualification. On-campus roles like resident advisor, student government officer, or tutoring coordinator also signal transferable people-management skills that Texas HR teams value when reviewing candidates with no direct experience.
Where can I find and apply to human resources intern jobs in Texas?
You can find and apply to human resources intern jobs in Texas on Migrate Mate, which lists current openings across the state. Search for roles that match your availability, preferred city, and area of HR interest, then apply directly to the ones that fit.
