Quality Assurance Intern Jobs in Texas: Frequently Asked Questions
How do you become a quality assurance intern in Texas?
Most quality assurance intern roles in Texas require active enrollment in a bachelor's program in engineering, manufacturing technology, life sciences, or computer science. There is no state-issued license specific to QA interns, but candidates pursuing medical device or pharmaceutical roles benefit from coursework aligned with FDA quality system regulations. Texas universities with strong engineering co-op and internship pipelines, including Texas A&M, UT Austin, and University of Houston, are common starting points for landing these roles.
How much do quality assurance interns make in Texas?
Quality assurance interns in Texas earn a median of about $101,850 a year, based on May 2025 Bureau of Labor Statistics wage data, ranging from around $59,010 for the lowest 10% to over $153,380 for the top 10%. Pay rises with experience, specialty, and employer.
Which companies hire quality assurance interns in Texas?
Employers hiring quality assurance interns in Texas right now include Foxconn Industrial Internet - FII, Albany International, and AssetWorks, based on current listings on Migrate Mate as of June 2026. Texas's concentration of semiconductor fabrication, aerospace defense contractors, and medical technology firms creates consistent intern demand across multiple QA disciplines throughout the year.
Which Texas cities have the most quality assurance intern jobs?
Austin, Dallas, and Houston have the most quality assurance intern openings in Texas. Austin's semiconductor and tech manufacturing base, Houston's energy and medical device industry clusters, and Dallas's aerospace and defense contractor presence drive the majority of openings, with suburban areas like Round Rock, Plano, and Webster also generating roles tied to large employer campuses in those cities.
Are there remote quality assurance intern jobs in Texas?
Yes, but they're less common than in purely desk-based fields, since QA intern work often involves hands-on inspection, lab testing, or production floor involvement. About 18% of quality assurance intern openings tied to Texas are remote or hybrid as of June 2026, with the remote-eligible subset concentrated in software QA, test automation scripting, and documentation review roles that don't require physical access to equipment or materials.
How can I get hired as a quality assurance intern in Texas with little or no experience?
The most realistic path is applying directly to structured intern programs at large Texas manufacturers and defense contractors, many of which specifically recruit students without prior work experience. Companies like Lockheed Martin, Texas Instruments, and major medical device firms in the Austin and Houston corridors run semester and summer intern cohorts open to undergraduates early in their programs. Completing relevant coursework in quality systems, statistical methods, or software testing and earning an entry-level certification like the ASQ Certified Quality Improvement Associate credential strengthens a candidate's profile considerably.
