Quality Assurance Intern Jobs in Maryland: Frequently Asked Questions
How do you become a quality assurance intern in Maryland?
Most quality assurance intern roles in Maryland require current enrollment in a bachelor's degree program in engineering, life sciences, information technology, or a related discipline. Maryland does not issue a state license specific to quality assurance interns, but candidates targeting biotech and medical device employers should familiarize themselves with FDA regulatory frameworks, and those pursuing defense or government contracting roles benefit from understanding CMMI or ISO standards relevant to Maryland's federal contractor community.
Which companies hire quality assurance interns in Maryland?
Employers hiring quality assurance interns in Maryland right now include F.H. Furr Plumbing, Heating, Air Conditioning, and Electrical, Northrop Grumman, and Frederick National Laboratory for Cancer Research, based on current listings on Migrate Mate as of July 2026. Maryland's concentration of federal contractors, biotech firms, and health systems means demand for quality assurance interns remains consistent throughout the internship hiring cycle.
Which Maryland cities have the most quality assurance intern jobs?
The cities with the most quality assurance intern openings in Maryland are Baltimore, Bethesda, and Frederick. Baltimore drives volume through its large health system and biotech presence, while Rockville and Bethesda reflect the concentration of pharmaceutical and federal health agency contractors along the I-270 corridor, and suburban areas near Aberdeen draw openings tied to defense and government testing facilities.
Are there remote quality assurance intern jobs in Maryland?
Yes, but they are less common than in purely analytical fields because quality assurance intern work often involves on-site testing, lab observation, or in-person audits. About 44% of quality assurance intern openings tied to Maryland are remote or hybrid as of July 2026, and those positions tend to focus on software quality assurance or documentation review rather than hands-on manufacturing or laboratory inspection work.
How can I get hired as a quality assurance intern in Maryland with little or no experience?
The most realistic entry path is applying directly to structured internship programs at Maryland's large health and biotech institutions, such as Johns Hopkins, University of Maryland Medical System, or CareFirst, which regularly recruit students without prior professional experience. Adjacent starting points include roles in data entry, lab assistant, or technical writing, which build the documentation and analytical skills QA teams look for. Completing a coursework project in ISO standards or earning a free introductory certification in software testing strengthens a Maryland application considerably.
Where can I find and apply to quality assurance intern jobs in Maryland?
