Human Resources Jobs in Brooklyn: Frequently Asked Questions
How do I get a human resources job in Brooklyn?
Focus on Brooklyn's largest hiring sectors: healthcare systems, higher education, nonprofits, and the expanding tech and creative companies clustered in DUMBO and the Navy Yard. Candidates who stand out typically combine generalist HR experience with familiarity in compliance-heavy or mission-driven environments. Networking through Brooklyn Chamber of Commerce events and local HR professional groups also gives you a practical edge in this close-knit borough market.
Which companies hire human resourcess in Brooklyn?
Employers hiring human resourcess in Brooklyn right now include NYU Langone Health, CAMBA, and Amazon, based on current listings on Migrate Mate as of September 2026. Brooklyn's hiring mix leans toward hospitals and health networks, universities, social service nonprofits, and a growing layer of mid-size tech and media companies, many headquartered locally rather than being satellite offices of Manhattan firms.
Are there remote human resources jobs in Brooklyn?
Yes, though it depends heavily on the role. Strategic and analytical HR functions like compensation analysis, HR information systems, and policy development tend to be remote-friendly, while employee relations, onboarding, and benefits administration often require an on-site presence. About 50% of human resources openings tied to Brooklyn are remote or hybrid as of September 2026, with hybrid schedules most common at Brooklyn's larger healthcare and education employers.
How can I get a human resources job in Brooklyn with little or no experience?
The most realistic entry path in Brooklyn is through HR coordinator or HR assistant roles at nonprofits and healthcare organizations, which hire at the entry level more consistently than corporate employers. Brooklyn-based social service agencies, charter school networks, and community health centers regularly bring on HR support staff and provide structured exposure to the full HR function. Volunteering with local workforce development organizations can also build a credible local reference base before your first formal HR role.
