Human Resources Manager Jobs in Houston: Frequently Asked Questions
How do I get a human resources manager job in Houston?
Focus your search on Houston's largest hiring sectors: energy, petrochemical, and oilfield services companies clustered in the Energy Corridor, health systems anchored in the Texas Medical Center, and logistics and distribution firms near the Port of Houston. Candidates who combine multi-site HR experience with bilingual English-Spanish skills stand out in Houston's large manufacturing and logistics workforce. Targeting mid-size operators and regional subsidiaries of national firms often yields faster traction than chasing corporate headquarters roles.
Which companies hire human resources managers in Houston?
Companies currently hiring human resources managers in Houston include TAS Energy, CEMEX, and Quanta Services, per current listings on Migrate Mate as of June 2026. Houston's hiring mix skews heavily toward energy majors and their service contractors, large health networks, and multinational corporations with regional headquarters in the Galleria and Greenway Plaza corridors.
Are there remote human resources manager jobs in Houston?
Yes, though availability depends on specialization. HR manager roles that involve employee relations, compliance oversight, or HRIS administration are more remote-friendly, while positions tied to onboarding, labor relations, or plant-floor workforce management typically require an on-site presence. About 16% of human resources manager openings tied to Houston are remote or hybrid as of June 2026. Corporate and shared-services roles in Houston's energy and finance sectors account for most of the hybrid options.
How can I get a human resources manager job in Houston with little or no experience?
The most realistic path in Houston is moving up from an HR coordinator or HR generalist role, ideally within the energy or healthcare sectors, which run large HR departments with structured promotion tracks. Employers like major hospital systems in the Texas Medical Center and midsize oilfield services companies regularly hire coordinators with the intent to develop them. A SHRM-CP credential and experience with an applicant tracking system make a strong impression with Houston hiring managers even at the entry level.
Which industries hire the most human resources managers in Houston?
Houston human resources manager roles concentrate in Energy, Manufacturing, and Technology & Software, based on current listings on Migrate Mate as of June 2026. Houston's economy is anchored by a globally significant energy sector, one of the largest medical complexes in the world, and a major inland port, all of which require large, structured HR functions to manage complex and often unionized workforces.
