Recruiter Jobs in Texas: Frequently Asked Questions
How do you become a recruiter in Texas?
Texas does not require a state-issued license to work as a recruiter, so the path typically starts with a bachelor's degree in human resources, business, or a related field. Most employers look for candidates who have completed coursework or internships in talent acquisition, and earning a nationally recognized credential such as the SHRM-CP or PHR strengthens your candidacy considerably. Texas's large corporate headquarters in Dallas-Fort Worth and Houston are common starting points for new recruiters.
How much do recruiters make in Texas?
Recruiters in Texas earn a median of about $68,920 a year, based on May 2025 Bureau of Labor Statistics wage data, ranging from around $43,410 for the lowest 10% to over $117,060 for the top 10%. Pay rises with experience, specialty, and employer.
Which companies hire recruiters in Texas?
Employers hiring recruiters in Texas right now include Jobot, KFC, and New York Life, based on current listings on Migrate Mate as of June 2026. Texas's concentration of energy companies, major health systems, and Fortune 500 headquarters means in-house talent acquisition teams here tend to be large and hire on a rolling basis.
Which Texas cities have the most recruiter jobs?
Dallas, Austin, and Houston have the most recruiter openings in Texas. Dallas-Fort Worth's density of corporate headquarters and financial services firms drives the highest overall volume, while Houston's energy and medical center sectors sustain consistent demand, and Austin's technology industry growth continues to fuel recruiter hiring across both in-house and agency roles.
Are there remote recruiter jobs in Texas?
Yes, and more than most fields. Recruiting is largely a phone, video, and digital workflow, which makes it well suited to remote and hybrid arrangements. About 20% of recruiter openings tied to Texas are remote or hybrid as of June 2026, reflecting how broadly the profession has adopted flexible work. Sourcing, screening, and coordination roles are the most commonly listed as fully remote.
How can I get hired as a recruiter in Texas with little or no experience?
The most realistic entry path is a coordinator or recruiting assistant role, which large Texas employers like HCA Healthcare, AT&T, and major staffing agencies based in Dallas and Houston routinely post as junior positions. Lateral moves from HR generalist, administrative, or customer-facing sales roles are common and well recognized by Texas hiring managers. Completing a SHRM student membership or an HRCI aPHR certification gives candidates without direct experience a concrete credential that stands out in competitive applicant pools.
Where can I find and apply to recruiter jobs in Texas?
You can find and apply to recruiter jobs in Texas on Migrate Mate, which lists current openings from employers hiring across the state right now. Find the roles that fit your experience and specialty, then apply directly through the listings.
