HBK Engineering is seeking a Talent Acquisition Specialist to lead full life-cycle recruiting for our U.S. operations, based out of any HBK office. This role owns the hiring process end-to-end — from sourcing and screening through offer negotiation and onboarding — with a strong emphasis on building a pipeline of qualified engineering and energy industry specific talent that keeps pace with our growth. Work locations: San Antonio or Spring, TX.
What You'll Do:- Partner closely with hiring managers and operations leaders to build recruitment strategies aligned with workforce planning and business needs across HBK’s entry level, field, and experienced hire engineering programs.
- Source and engage active and passive candidates through a variety of methods — job boards, LinkedIn Recruiter, advanced AI search, professional associations, employee referrals, and industry networking — with a focus on technical and engineering talent.
- Build and maintain talent pipelines for critical roles supporting utility, energy, and communications programs nationwide, including experienced-hire events, internships, co-ops, and university relations.
- Represent HBK at engineering career fairs, industry association events, and professional networking forums to strengthen the company’s presence in the talent market.
- Manage full life-cycle recruiting — crafting compelling job postings and outreach, screening and interviewing candidates, assessing fit, negotiating offers, and coordinating pre-onboarding steps such as background checks and drug screens.
- Track recruiting metrics and market trends to inform workforce planning and drive continuous improvement in time-to-fill and candidate quality.
- Stay current on employment law and regulations to ensure consistent, compliant hiring practices.
- Support broader HR initiatives, including new hire orientation, training facilitation, and employee relations, as needed.
- Bachelor’s degree in Human Resources or a related field.
- Five or more years of full life-cycle recruiting experience, with demonstrated success in engineering, utility, energy, telecommunications, or infrastructure hiring (e.g., Electrical, Civil, and Structural Engineers, Designers, Utility Coordinators, Project Managers, and Field Services personnel).
- Strong understanding of utility infrastructure projects — electric transmission and distribution, communications networks, FTTH, grid modernization, and resiliency programs.
- Proven ability to source and engage passive technical talent through LinkedIn Recruiter, AI search methodologies, professional associations, and industry networking channels.
- Experience managing high-volume requisitions across geographically dispersed locations, with the project management skills to prioritize without sacrificing candidate experience.
- Working knowledge of recruiting metrics, workforce planning, and talent market trends within the engineering and utility sectors.
- Experience with ATS/HRIS platforms and reporting tools (iCIMS preferred); advanced proficiency in Excel, Outlook, PowerPoint, and Teams.
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills, with the ability to partner effectively with engineers, project managers, operations leaders, and executive stakeholders.
- Willingness to travel to HBK offices, industry conferences, university recruiting events, career fairs, and project locations as needed.
- Comprehensive benefits package including medical, dental, vision, disability and employer paid life insurance. In addition, all full-time roles are also eligible for 401(k) retirement plan with company match, paid time off and holidays. Recruiter Jobs in San Antonio: Frequently Asked Questions
How do I get a recruiter job in San Antonio?
Focus on San Antonio's highest-volume hiring sectors: defense and federal contracting around Fort Sam Houston and JBSA, healthcare systems anchored in the Medical Center, and financial services firms concentrated downtown. Staffing agencies along the 410 and 281 corridors hire frequently and are a reliable entry point. Experience sourcing for cleared or clinical roles gives candidates a clear edge in this market.
Which companies hire recruiters in San Antonio?
Companies currently hiring recruiters in San Antonio include CHRISTUS Health, USAA, and UniFirst, per current listings on Migrate Mate as of September 2026. San Antonio's mix of large military-adjacent employers, regional hospital systems, and national staffing firms means recruiter demand stays active across both permanent and contract hiring teams.
Are there remote recruiter jobs in San Antonio?
Yes, recruiter work is among the more remote-adaptable roles since sourcing, screening, and coordination are desk-based tasks. About 50% of recruiter openings tied to San Antonio are remote or hybrid as of September 2026, though roles requiring on-site presence at Medical Center facilities or military installations typically stay in-person. Corporate and agency roles are the most likely to offer flexible arrangements.
How can I get a recruiter job in San Antonio with little or no experience?
The most realistic entry path in San Antonio is joining a regional staffing agency, several of which operate along the 410 corridor and actively hire coordinators and sourcing assistants with no prior recruiting background. Healthcare systems in the Medical Center also bring in HR assistants who move into talent acquisition roles internally. Fluency in Spanish and familiarity with military transition hiring are concrete advantages that San Antonio employers value immediately.
