Human Resources Manager Jobs in Texas: Frequently Asked Questions
How do you become a human resources manager in Texas?
Texas does not require a state-issued license to work as a human resources manager, so the path runs through education and professional certification. Most employers expect a bachelor's degree in human resources or business, followed by several years of generalist or specialist HR experience. Earning a SHRM-CP or PHR credential through the Society for Human Resource Management or the HR Certification Institute signals readiness for management and is frequently listed as a requirement by Texas employers.
How much do human resources managers make in Texas?
Human resources managers in Texas earn a median of about $136,500 a year, based on May 2025 Bureau of Labor Statistics wage data, ranging from around $83,200 for the lowest 10% to over $226,050 for the top 10%. Pay rises with experience, specialty, and employer.
Which companies hire human resources managers in Texas?
Employers hiring human resources managers in Texas right now include Walgreens, Amazon, and Abercrombie & Fitch, based on current listings on Migrate Mate as of June 2026. Texas's mix of energy, healthcare, technology, and logistics headquarters means demand is spread across industries rather than concentrated in one sector.
Which Texas cities have the most human resources manager jobs?
Houston, Dallas, and Austin have the most human resources manager openings in Texas. Dallas-Fort Worth leads because of its dense concentration of Fortune 500 corporate headquarters, Houston follows on the strength of its energy, medical center, and port-related industries, and Austin's rapid technology and government sector growth has made it a consistent source of HR management roles.
Are there remote human resources manager jobs in Texas?
Yes, and more than most fields. About 5% of human resources manager openings tied to Texas are remote or hybrid as of June 2026, reflecting the desk-based and advisory nature of much of the work. Roles focused on HR business partnering, compensation analysis, and policy development tend to be the most remote-eligible, while positions requiring regular on-site employee relations work are more likely to be in-person.
How can I get hired as a human resources manager in Texas with little or no experience?
The most realistic entry path is moving into an HR coordinator or HR generalist role first, then building toward management. Large Texas employers such as HCA Healthcare, Texas Health Resources, and major DFW corporate campuses regularly hire for junior HR roles that develop into management tracks. A SHRM-CP credential or a completed HR internship from a Texas university program adds credibility. Lateral moves from recruiting coordinator, benefits administrator, or payroll specialist roles are common stepping stones recognized by Texas hiring managers.
Where can I find and apply to human resources manager jobs in Texas?
You can find and apply to human resources manager jobs in Texas on Migrate Mate, which lists current Texas openings across industries and metros. Find roles that fit your experience and location and apply directly to each one.
