Assistant Branch Manager Jobs in Texas: Frequently Asked Questions
How do you become a assistant branch manager in Texas?
Most assistant branch managers in Texas start as tellers or personal bankers and advance after building a record in customer service and sales performance. If the role involves originating mortgage or consumer loans, Texas requires registration with the Nationwide Multistate Licensing System through the Texas Department of Savings and Mortgage Lending. A bachelor's degree in business or finance strengthens candidacy, though many Texas institutions promote from within based on tenure and performance metrics.
How much do assistant branch managers make in Texas?
Assistant branch managers in Texas earn a median of about $103,230 a year, based on May 2025 Bureau of Labor Statistics wage data, ranging from around $46,190 for the lowest 10% to over $264,620 for the top 10%. Pay rises with experience, specialty, and employer.
Which companies hire assistant branch managers in Texas?
Employers hiring assistant branch managers in Texas right now include GameStop, Finish Line, and Dollar General, based on current listings on Migrate Mate as of June 2026. Texas's density of regional banks, credit unions, and national financial institutions creates consistent year-round demand for this role across the state.
Which Texas cities have the most assistant branch manager jobs?
Houston, San Antonio, and Austin have the most assistant branch manager openings in Texas. Houston and Dallas lead because of their concentration of national bank headquarters, regional credit unions, and high-volume retail branch networks, while San Antonio's strong military and government employee base drives demand at institutions like Frost Bank and USAA-adjacent community lenders.
Are there remote assistant branch manager jobs in Texas?
Yes, but they're rare. About 0% of assistant branch manager openings tied to Texas are remote or hybrid as of June 2026, reflecting that most of the role requires physical presence to supervise staff, handle vault procedures, and serve walk-in customers. The portions most likely to allow remote or hybrid arrangements are administrative reporting, compliance training, and loan processing support functions.
How can I get hired as a assistant branch manager in Texas with little or no experience?
The most realistic entry path is becoming a personal banker or senior teller first, then pursuing internal promotion. Large Texas institutions like JPMorgan Chase, Wells Fargo, and Frost Bank run formal branch leadership development programs that pipeline high-performing retail staff into supervisory roles. Earning an NMLS registration early signals commitment to a lending track and gives candidates an edge. Lateral moves from roles like loan processor, relationship banker, or operations specialist are also common paths into assistant branch management at Texas credit unions and community banks.
Where can I find and apply to assistant branch manager jobs in Texas?
You can find and apply to assistant branch manager jobs in Texas on Migrate Mate, which lists current Texas openings from institutions across the state. Search the listings, find roles that match your experience and preferred metro, and apply directly to the employer.
