Assistant Branch Manager Jobs in Tennessee: Frequently Asked Questions
How do you become a assistant branch manager in Tennessee?
Most assistant branch managers in Tennessee start as tellers or personal bankers at a local bank or credit union and move into supervision after demonstrating consistent performance. Tennessee does not require a state-issued license for the role itself, but most hiring banks expect candidates to hold or obtain an NMLS (Nationwide Multistate Licensing System) registration if they will originate consumer loans. A bachelor's degree in business or finance strengthens an application, and experience with compliance, team coaching, and retail deposit operations is frequently cited in Tennessee postings.
Which companies hire assistant branch managers in Tennessee?
Companies currently hiring assistant branch managers in Tennessee include Regional Finance, Republic Finance, and Knoxville TVA Employees Credit Union, per current listings on Migrate Mate as of September 2026. Tennessee's large community banking sector and the presence of several regional bank headquarters mean openings appear consistently across both metro and smaller-market branches throughout the state.
Which Tennessee cities have the most assistant branch manager jobs?
Knoxville, Madison, and Chattanooga are the Tennessee cities with the most assistant branch manager openings. Nashville leads because of its dense concentration of regional bank headquarters and rapid population growth driving new branch openings, while Memphis supports a large number of established branches tied to its commercial and consumer banking market, and Knoxville reflects steady demand from both community banks and credit unions serving East Tennessee.
Are there remote assistant branch manager jobs in Tennessee?
Yes, but they're rare. Assistant branch manager roles are fundamentally on-site positions that require daily branch presence to supervise staff, serve customers, and oversee vault and teller operations. About 0% of assistant branch manager openings tied to Tennessee are remote or hybrid as of September 2026, and those that do list flexibility tend to be in regional oversight or training-focused roles rather than traditional branch assignments.
How can I get hired as a assistant branch manager in Tennessee with little or no experience?
The most realistic entry path is to start as a teller or personal banker at a Tennessee bank or credit union and build toward a lead or head teller role before applying for assistant branch manager openings. Large Tennessee employers like Regions Bank and Tennessee-based credit union networks regularly promote from within and sometimes run structured development programs for high-performing frontline staff. Obtaining your NMLS registration early and gaining familiarity with compliance procedures gives candidates a clear competitive edge when internal postings open.
