Registrar Jobs in Tennessee: Frequently Asked Questions
How do you become a registrar in Tennessee?
The path depends on the setting. For academic registrar roles, Tennessee colleges and universities typically require at least an associate degree, with a bachelor's degree preferred, and familiarity with systems like Banner or Ellucian. Healthcare registrars benefit from a Registered Health Information Technician credential through AHIMA. Court or vital records registrars follow Tennessee Department of Health or county clerk guidelines. Building experience in admissions, medical front office, or records clerk roles is a common starting point.
Which companies hire registrars in Tennessee?
Employers hiring registrars in Tennessee right now include Maury Regional Health, Parallon, and TriStar Health, based on current listings on Migrate Mate as of September 2026. Tennessee's large university systems and regional hospital networks generate the steadiest volume of openings, particularly for candidates with records management or patient access experience.
Which Tennessee cities have the most registrar jobs?
Nashville, Columbia, and Memphis have the most registrar openings in Tennessee. Nashville dominates because of its dense concentration of university campuses, major hospital systems, and state government offices, while Memphis and Knoxville draw volume from regional medical centers and the University of Tennessee system, making mid-sized markets worth searching alongside the capital.
Are there remote registrar jobs in Tennessee?
Yes, but they're relatively limited. About 0% of registrar openings tied to Tennessee are remote or hybrid as of September 2026, reflecting the fact that much of the work involves in-person records handling, front desk intake, or on-campus coordination. The functions most likely to go remote are back-office data processing, transcript verification, and certain enrollment reporting roles at larger institutions.
How can I get hired as a registrar in Tennessee with little or no experience?
The most realistic entry point is an administrative support or front-desk role within a Tennessee college, hospital, or county office, then moving laterally into a registrar assistant or enrollment services position. Vanderbilt University Medical Center, Tennessee Board of Regents institutions, and HCA Healthcare all hire for patient access representatives and records clerks that feed directly into registrar tracks. Earning a Registered Health Information Technician credential through AHIMA or completing a health information technology program at a Tennessee community college gives candidates a clear edge.
Where can I find and apply to registrar jobs in Tennessee?
You can find and apply to registrar jobs in Tennessee on Migrate Mate, which lists current openings across the state's universities, healthcare systems, and government offices. Search the listings, find roles that match your background and location, and apply directly to the employers posting them.
