ROLE DESCRIPTION

Provide support for the mechanical and nuclear engineering programs' improvement and accreditation (ABET, SACS, MS and PhD program reviews). Increase the visibility of the MNE Department and its positive image among prospective and current students, employers, alumni, campus community, and the general public. ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS:

- Meets with prospective students and their families during VIP campus visits, providing information about the department and its programs. Also helps coordinate major recruitment events such as the Fall Preview and Spring Showcase, ensuring that visitors have a welcoming and informative experience while learning about the opportunities available in the department.
- Leads communications, outreach, and public relations efforts to enhance the visibility of the Mechanical and Nuclear Engineering programs. This includes preparing departmental newsletters, magazines and using social media to highlight student achievements, faculty accomplishments, departmental events, and program strengths.
- Assists with planning and coordinating External Advisory Board meetings, departmental meetings, and alumni engagement activities. Helps with meeting logistics, communications, and follow-up, and records and maintains meeting minutes to ensure accurate documentation and continuity of departmental initiatives.
- Provides support for continuous program improvement and accreditation efforts within the Mechanical and Nuclear Engineering program. Assists with collecting and organizing data for ABET accreditation, MS and PhD program reviews.
- Plans and organizes departmental social and cultural events in coordination with the Chair. Also advises and supports ME student organizations by assisting with event planning, activities, and initiatives that enhance student engagement and strengthen the sense of community within the department.
- Manages the department’s display cases and hallway bulletin boards, website and helping highlight student achievements, departmental news, and important announcements.

QUALIFICATIONS

- Bachelor’s Degree from an accredited institution in Business, Communications, or related field and three years of related experience. In-depth knowledge of computers and software. Experience in maintaining and updating websites and social media sites. Ability to analyze and report data in readable form with graphs and graphics. Evidence of excellent oral and written communication skills and presentation skills.
- Three years of software related experience (Banner, Microsoft Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Access, ARGOS). Two years of experience in communications and/or public outreach. Two years of general business experience or MBA degree. Ability to plan and organize outreach and educational campaigns. Ability to work effectively with students, faculty and alumni from a diverse background.
