Human Resources Assistant Jobs in Tennessee: Frequently Asked Questions
How do you become a human resources assistant in Tennessee?
Tennessee does not require a state-issued license to work as a human resources assistant, so the path centers on education and credentials. Most employers expect at least an associate degree in human resources or business, and a bachelor's degree strengthens your candidacy at larger organizations. Earning a SHRM-CP or PHR certification, both recognized across Tennessee, signals practical competence and is increasingly expected at mid-size and large employers in Nashville, Memphis, and Knoxville.
Which companies hire human resources assistants in Tennessee?
Employers hiring human resources assistants in Tennessee right now include HCA Healthcare, Maury Regional Health, and PathGroup, based on current listings on Migrate Mate as of September 2026. Tennessee's mix of large healthcare systems, manufacturers, and logistics operators creates steady, year-round demand for HR support staff.
Which Tennessee cities have the most human resources assistant jobs?
Nashville, Brentwood, and Memphis have the most human resources assistant openings in Tennessee. Nashville leads because of its dense concentration of healthcare systems, corporate headquarters, and financial services firms, while Memphis is driven by its logistics and distribution sector, and Knoxville draws volume from the University of Tennessee system and regional manufacturing employers.
Are there remote human resources assistant jobs in Tennessee?
Yes, though they are less common than in purely analytical roles because HR assistants frequently support in-person onboarding, handle physical documents, and coordinate on-site employees. About 53% of human resources assistant openings tied to Tennessee are remote or hybrid as of September 2026, with remote options most often available for HRIS data entry, benefits enrollment support, and employee records management.
How can I get hired as a human resources assistant in Tennessee with little or no experience?
The most realistic entry path is an administrative or payroll coordinator role at a Tennessee healthcare system or manufacturer, where on-the-job exposure to HRIS platforms and compliance tasks translates directly into HR assistant qualifications. Large employers such as HCA Healthcare and FedEx run structured new-hire and internal mobility programs that place candidates without HR experience into support roles. Completing a SHRM Essentials of HR course and earning an associate degree from a Tennessee community college, such as Nashville State or Pellissippi State, gives candidates a concrete credential edge during screening.
Where can I find and apply to human resources assistant jobs in Tennessee?
You can find and apply to human resources assistant jobs in Tennessee on Migrate Mate, which lists current openings from Tennessee employers. Search the available roles, find the ones that match your experience and location, and apply directly to the ones that fit.
