Implementation Manager Jobs in Illinois: Frequently Asked Questions
How do you become a implementation manager in Illinois?
Most implementation manager roles in Illinois require a bachelor's degree in information systems, business administration, or a related field, followed by experience in project coordination or technical support. Illinois does not issue a state license for this role, so employers focus on credentials like the PMP from the Project Management Institute or Agile certifications. Building experience through business analyst or IT coordinator positions at Chicago-area firms is the most reliable path into the role.
How much do implementation managers make in Illinois?
Implementation managers in Illinois earn a median of about $103,470 a year, based on May 2025 Bureau of Labor Statistics wage data, ranging from around $65,300 for the lowest 10% to over $163,910 for the top 10%. Pay rises with experience, specialty, and employer.
Which companies hire implementation managers in Illinois?
Employers hiring implementation managers in Illinois right now include Inspira Financial, JPMorganChase, and DSV, based on current listings on Migrate Mate as of August 2026. Illinois's dense concentration of enterprise software vendors, financial institutions, and health systems means implementation managers here often work on large-scale, multi-site rollouts with well-established project management frameworks.
Which Illinois cities have the most implementation manager jobs?
The Illinois cities with the most implementation manager openings are Chicago, Oak Brook, and Illinois. Chicago dominates due to its headquarters concentration in finance, healthcare IT, and enterprise software, while Naperville and Schaumburg attract demand from the suburban technology corridor where major consulting firms and SaaS companies have established regional offices that run client implementation programs independently of the city.
Are there remote implementation manager jobs in Illinois?
Yes, and more than most fields. About 77% of implementation manager openings tied to Illinois are remote or hybrid as of August 2026, reflecting how much of the role involves software configuration, training delivery, and stakeholder communication that translates well to virtual formats. Project phases requiring on-site presence, such as go-live support or hardware integration, are more likely to pull candidates into the office.
How can I get hired as a implementation manager in Illinois with little or no experience?
The most realistic entry path is starting as a junior business analyst, implementation coordinator, or technical support specialist, roles that Illinois employers like Allscripts, Morningstar, and major Chicago-area consulting firms regularly fill with candidates who have limited experience. Pursuing a PMP certification or completing an Agile training program adds measurable credibility. Volunteer project leadership through Chicago-area tech meetups or nonprofit technology initiatives can substitute for formal work history when paired with a strong portfolio of scoped projects.
