Investment Analyst Jobs in New Jersey: Frequently Asked Questions
How do you become a investment analyst in New Jersey?
Most investment analyst roles in New Jersey require a bachelor's degree in finance, economics, accounting, or a related field, followed by employer-specific training and progressive experience. While New Jersey does not issue a state-specific investment analyst license, analysts who advise clients on securities must register as Investment Adviser Representatives through the New Jersey Bureau of Securities, a division of the Attorney General's Office. The CFA designation carries significant weight with New Jersey's major financial employers and is often expected for advancement.
How much do investment analysts make in New Jersey?
Investment analysts in New Jersey earn a median of about $108,610 a year, based on May 2025 Bureau of Labor Statistics wage data, ranging from around $71,650 for the lowest 10% to over $179,770 for the top 10%. Pay rises with experience, specialty, and employer.
Which companies hire investment analysts in New Jersey?
Employers hiring investment analysts in New Jersey right now include PGIM, BNY, and Prudential, based on current listings on Migrate Mate as of September 2026. New Jersey's concentration of insurance holding companies, asset managers, and financial services headquarters along the Route 1 corridor and in Jersey City makes it one of the more active mid-Atlantic markets for this role.
Which New Jersey cities have the most investment analyst jobs?
Newark, Jersey City, and Camden have the most investment analyst openings in New Jersey. Jersey City's position directly across from Lower Manhattan makes it home to major bank and asset management back-office and research operations, while Newark hosts large insurance and diversified financial firms, and Princeton draws corporate finance and institutional investment teams from pharmaceutical and technology sector headquarters in the surrounding region.
Are there remote investment analyst jobs in New Jersey?
Yes, and more than many financial roles. About 100% of investment analyst openings tied to New Jersey are remote or hybrid as of September 2026, reflecting how much of this work centers on data analysis, modeling, and written research that does not require a physical trading floor or client-facing location. Quantitative research and fixed income analysis roles tend to have the most remote flexibility, while client-portfolio-management positions more often require in-office presence.
How can I get hired as a investment analyst in New Jersey with little or no experience?
The most realistic entry path is a rotational analyst program at one of New Jersey's large financial employers, such as Prudential Financial or Vanguard, which run structured new-graduate programs that place candidates into research, portfolio, or risk teams. Candidates without direct experience often transition from adjacent roles like financial planning associate, credit analyst, or accounting staff. Completing the first CFA exam level, building a financial modeling portfolio using publicly available data, and targeting associate-level openings at mid-size New Jersey asset managers accelerates early hiring significantly.
Where can I find and apply to investment analyst jobs in New Jersey?
You can find and apply to investment analyst jobs in New Jersey on Migrate Mate, which lists current New Jersey openings updated regularly. Search the listings, find roles that fit your background and target sector, and apply directly to each position.
