This position supports Windows domain administration, virtual machine deployments, endpoint infrastructure, STIG implementation, and continuous monitoring activities within secure DoD lab environments. The Tier 2 system administrator serves as an escalation point beyond Tier 1 and works closely with engineers and cybersecurity personnel to ensure operational reliability and compliance.
- Assists in the management of Windows domain environments
- Supports desktop operations and troubleshooting in RDT&E lab environments
- Performs virtual machine builds and deployments in support of system integration
- Installs, configures, and maintains external workstation hardware and authorized software
- Performs server/workstation installations and technology refreshesTroubleshoots, diagnoses and resolves hardware and software issues
- Performs scheduled system upgrades
- Maintains IT infrastructure end-point devices including:
- Workstations and laptops
- Printers
- Desk and mobile phones
- Audio/visual equipment
- Maintains end-point data backups and ensures data integrity
- Participates in the patch management process
- Supports configuration management & change management activities and documentation
- Supports tracking and implementation of DISA Security Technical Implementation Guidelines (STIGs)
- Assists in RMF artifact development and continuous monitoring activities
- Ensures systems align with DoD cybersecurity standards
- Works with a team supporting network-connected and standalone RDT&E laboratories
- Creates and maintains technical documentation
- Leads and assists with projects as needed
- Utilize multiple support tools and systems, including:
- MS Teams
- ServiceNow
- Active Directory
- Microsoft Configuration Manager
- Active DoD Secret Clearance required
- Typical education: Bachelor’s degree in a business or technical field
- Have 10 or more years professional experience in computer systems analysis
- Experience supporting Windows domain environments
- Experience with virtual machine builds and deployments
- Experience with system patching and configuration management
- Familiarity with DISA STIG implementation and DoD cybersecurity practices
- Excellent troubleshooting and solution development skills
- Professional customer service attitude
- Ability to work independently and as part of a team
- Windows 11 (Udemy or equivalent)
- Red Hat Linux System Administration (Udemy or equivalent)
