IT Systems Specialist Jobs in Pennsylvania: Frequently Asked Questions
How do you become a it systems specialist in Pennsylvania?
Most it systems specialist roles in Pennsylvania require a bachelor's degree in information technology, computer science, or a closely related field, though associate degrees paired with strong certifications can open doors at smaller employers. Pennsylvania does not issue a state license for this role, so employers rely on industry credentials such as CompTIA A+, Network+, or Microsoft certifications as proof of competency. Gaining experience through a campus help desk, IT internship, or government technology program in the state strengthens a candidate's profile considerably.
Which companies hire it systems specialists in Pennsylvania?
Employers hiring it systems specialists in Pennsylvania right now include Lockheed Martin, Saint-Gobain, and GBU Life, based on current listings on Migrate Mate as of September 2026. Pennsylvania's concentration of large health systems, regional banks, and state government agencies means hiring stays consistent even outside peak recruitment seasons.
Which Pennsylvania cities have the most it systems specialist jobs?
King of Prussia, Malvern, and Pittsburgh have the most it systems specialist openings in Pennsylvania. Philadelphia leads because of its density of hospital networks, financial institutions, and corporate headquarters, while Pittsburgh's technology and healthcare corridor drives strong demand there, and Harrisburg's concentration of state government agencies and contractors creates a reliable base of public-sector openings.
Are there remote it systems specialist jobs in Pennsylvania?
Yes, but they are less common than in purely desk-based roles, since it systems specialists often need to be on-site to manage hardware, run cable, or troubleshoot physical infrastructure. About 71% of it systems specialist openings tied to Pennsylvania are remote or hybrid as of September 2026, and those positions tend to focus on cloud administration, remote monitoring, and IT support for distributed workforces rather than hands-on infrastructure work.
How can I get hired as a it systems specialist in Pennsylvania with little or no experience?
The most realistic entry path is a help desk or desktop support role at one of Pennsylvania's large health systems or state agencies, where structured onboarding exists for candidates without deep experience. Penn Medicine, UPMC, and Commonwealth of Pennsylvania agencies regularly bring on entry-level IT support staff and promote from within. Earning a CompTIA A+ certification before applying signals baseline competency that many Pennsylvania employers accept in place of prior work history, and adjacent roles such as IT support technician or systems administrator assistant are common stepping stones.
Where can I find and apply to it systems specialist jobs in Pennsylvania?
You can find and apply to it systems specialist jobs in Pennsylvania on Migrate Mate, which lists current Pennsylvania openings across the state's major hiring metros and industries. Find roles that fit your experience and apply directly to the employers posting them.
