Laboratory Technician – Clinical Research & Specimen Processing

Quality Clinical Research is hiring a Laboratory Technician to process, store, document, and ship biological specimens collected during clinical trials. Your work will support research evaluating potential new treatments.

We are looking for someone who understands specimen handling, is comfortable working with laboratory equipment, and can follow detailed processing instructions while managing time-sensitive tasks.

Required Education and Experience

• Bachelor’s degree in laboratory science or microbiology.
• At least one year of professional, hands-on laboratory experience; two years preferred.
• Experience processing biological specimens, including centrifugation, separation, aliquoting, and labeling.

Academic laboratory coursework alone does not meet the professional experience requirement. Clinical research experience is preferred, but we can provide study-specific training to a qualified laboratory professional.

What You Will Do

• Process specimens accurately: Receive and prepare blood and other biological specimens according to each study’s laboratory manual, processing deadlines, and temperature requirements.
• Prepare specimen shipments: Package ambient, refrigerated, and frozen specimens; complete requisitions and manifests; arrange courier pickups; and track shipments.
• Manage specimen storage: Maintain organized refrigerated and frozen storage, accurate inventories, and complete records of specimen locations and transfers.
• Maintain clear documentation: Record specimen identifiers, collection and processing times, storage conditions, and shipping details. Upload laboratory documents and assist with laboratory queries.
• Monitor equipment: Complete temperature and equipment logs and promptly report temperature excursions, equipment problems, or specimen concerns.
• Keep the laboratory ready: Organize study kits, check expiration dates, maintain supplies, and prepare for scheduled participant visits.
• Work with the research team: Communicate processing needs and deadlines so specimens are collected and handled correctly.

You can describe the specimens you have processed, the equipment you have used, and how you maintain accurate records. You are comfortable following different laboratory instructions for different studies and asking questions whenever a requirement is unclear.

You stay organized when several samples need attention, recognize when something is outside the required conditions, and promptly bring concerns to the appropriate team member.

Work Location and Requirements

This position works on-site at our Omaha, Nebraska research facility. Duties involve handling biological specimens, using laboratory equipment, accessing refrigerated and frozen storage, and preparing shipping materials.
