Leasing Professional Jobs in New Jersey: Frequently Asked Questions
How do you become a leasing professional in New Jersey?
In New Jersey, most leasing professionals are required to hold an active real estate salesperson license issued by the New Jersey Real Estate Commission. The path involves completing the state-approved pre-licensing education, passing the New Jersey real estate salesperson exam, and applying for licensure through the Commission. Some entry-level apartment leasing roles at larger communities allow candidates to begin while completing licensing requirements.
Which companies hire leasing professionals in New Jersey?
New Jersey leasing professional roles are posted by Greystar, Willow Bridge Property Company, and Hilton Realty and others right now, based on current listings on Migrate Mate as of August 2026. New Jersey's high density of Class A apartment communities and mixed-use developments means large regional and national property management companies maintain ongoing hiring pipelines across the state.
Which New Jersey cities have the most leasing professional jobs?
Hoboken, Fort Lee, and Sewell have the most leasing professional openings in New Jersey. Newark and Jersey City drive volume through their large-scale urban apartment developments and transit-oriented mixed-use projects, while Edison and similar central Jersey communities reflect the strong suburban multifamily market sustained by employers and residents relocating from New York City.
Are there remote leasing professional jobs in New Jersey?
Yes, but they're rare. About 0% of leasing professional openings tied to New Jersey are remote or hybrid as of August 2026, reflecting that most leasing work requires on-site tours, lease signings, and direct tenant interaction. The portions of the role most likely to be handled remotely are administrative tasks, virtual tour coordination, and follow-up communications with prospective tenants.
How can I get hired as a leasing professional in New Jersey with little or no experience?
The most realistic entry path is applying for a leasing consultant or leasing associate role at a large multifamily community while completing or already holding a New Jersey real estate salesperson license. Companies like Veris Residential and Equity Residential hire entry-level leasing consultants in their New Jersey portfolios and provide on-the-job training. Candidates with experience in retail sales, hospitality, or customer service who can demonstrate strong communication skills have a clear advantage at this stage.
