Position Summary

Guggenheim is seeking an Associate, Paralegal and Legal Operations to report to Guggenheim’s Legal & Compliance Operations Officer. This role will join a highly collaborative legal team and will serve as the operational backbone of a high-volume in-house legal practice. This is a hybrid role combining traditional paralegal work, project and workflow management, and analytical, reporting and presentation support. This role owns the intake, tracking, and follow-through on Legal requests, addresses routine matters, prepares work product for attorney review, assists with operational analyses, projects and reports, and assists Legal with matters that arise.

In addition to meticulous organizational skills and high attention to detail, the ideal candidate will demonstrate an ability to proactively manage and track various projects both independently and as part of a team, take ownership and responsibility over assignments, assume leadership roles where appropriate, and work on a variety of time-sensitive projects. The successful candidate must be proactive, exercise excellent judgment, have exceptional communication skills, and demonstrate strong customer service and professionalism. The candidate must be comfortable interacting with senior-level attorneys and executives and be highly responsive and efficient. The position is located in Guggenheim’s Chicago office and has the opportunity to report under a Hybrid work arrangement.

Essential Job Functions

• Own the department's request process, tracking and prioritizing incoming requests, routing requests to the appropriate owners, exercising judgment to review and resolve routine items and escalate others
• Drive matters to completion through disciplined follow-up with internal and external stakeholders
• Build and maintain trackers, logs and reporting tools to assist with Legal’s operations and substantive project work
• Prepare first drafts of routine legal documents and correspondence as well as business and operational documents, reports and presentations
• Provide detailed review of certain legal documents, presentations, and spreadsheets spanning various legal practice areas, including running redlines and recommending comments
• Prepare summaries, charts and presentations in PowerPoint, Word, Excel, Visio
• Build, document, and maintain templates, forms, checklists, playbooks, standard operating procedures and databases
• Draft, document, and revise policies and procedures
• Handle confidential information in a discrete manner
• Complete project work in a timely and organized manner
• Respond accurately and promptly to information queries from internal and external sources
• Update and maintain internal systems as needed
• Organize and maintain files and records
• Assist with other legal and compliance related matters as they arise, including substantive legal and compliance, operational and business matters

Preferred Qualifications

• Proficiency in Microsoft Office applications, with focus on Excel, PowerPoint and Visio
• Proficiency in Adobe Acrobat or comparable PDF software
• Experience within financial services industry
• Superior organizational skills and ability to manage multiple assignments
• Consistent accuracy, thoroughness, with the ability to problem solve
• Ability to effectively and maturely communicate and collaborate with diverse personalities in all levels of management, as well as outside vendors and clients
• Ability to demonstrate discretion in handling confidential data and dealing with high-level executives
• Assertive and proactive attitude toward assignments and in managing business relationships
• Able to adapt quickly and appropriately in accordance with the constant evolution of the company and industry
• Collaborative, maintains accountability, and accepts responsibility
• Ability to manage a mixed workload of deadline-driven tasks while maintaining strict attention to detail and prioritizing issues appropriately

Basic Qualifications

• Completion of a Bachelor’s degree and Paralegal certificate is required
• A minimum of at least 3 years financial services sector, corporate internal legal department, law firm or related experience

Salary

• Annual base salary between $80,000 and $90,000.

The base salary range represents the low and high end of the anticipated base salary range for this position. Actual base salaries may vary depending on factors such as location and experience. The range listed reflects base salary only, and the total compensation package may include other components such as incentive compensation.
