Licensed Therapist Jobs in Indiana: Frequently Asked Questions
How do you become a licensed therapist in Indiana?
The path depends on which license you pursue. The Indiana Professional Licensing Agency oversees the Licensed Clinical Social Worker, Licensed Mental Health Counselor, and Licensed Marriage and Family Therapist credentials, each requiring a relevant master's degree and a period of supervised post-graduate clinical hours. Applicants must pass the corresponding national board examination for their discipline. Many Indiana employers will hire candidates who are working toward full licensure under supervision, making associate or provisional status a realistic entry point.
Which companies hire licensed therapists in Indiana?
Companies currently hiring licensed therapists in Indiana include LifeStance Health, Centerstone, and Thriveworks, per current listings on Migrate Mate as of August 2026. Indiana's network of community mental health centers, federally qualified health centers, and large integrated health systems keeps consistent demand for licensed therapists across the state year-round.
Which Indiana cities have the most licensed therapist jobs?
Indianapolis, Indiana, and Greenwood account for the largest share of licensed therapist openings in Indiana. Indianapolis dominates because it is home to major health systems, academic medical centers, and the state's largest concentration of behavioral health organizations, while Fort Wayne and other regional hubs generate steady openings through community mental health centers and hospital-affiliated outpatient programs that serve their surrounding counties.
Are there remote licensed therapist jobs in Indiana?
Yes, and more than many clinical roles, because licensed therapists who provide talk therapy can deliver services via telehealth without compromising care quality. About 63% of licensed therapist openings tied to Indiana are remote or hybrid as of August 2026, reflecting how broadly telehealth has been adopted since the expansion of insurance reimbursement for virtual behavioral health visits. Individual therapy, intake assessments, and case management functions tend to be the most remote-compatible parts of the role.
How can I get hired as a licensed therapist in Indiana with little or no experience?
The most realistic entry path is applying for associate or pre-licensed clinician roles at community mental health centers such as Centerstone or Aspire Indiana Health, which regularly hire candidates who are still accruing supervised hours toward full licensure. Positions titled counselor intern, mental health associate, or case manager offer structured supervision and a clear path to licensure. A completed master's degree, any practicum or internship experience from an accredited Indiana program, and provisional licensure through the Indiana Professional Licensing Agency all strengthen an application considerably.
Where can I find and apply to licensed therapist jobs in Indiana?
You can find and apply to licensed therapist jobs in Indiana on Migrate Mate, which lists current openings from employers across the state. Search the listings to find roles that match your specialty, licensure level, and preferred location, then apply directly to the ones that fit.
