Job Summary

Reporting to the Maintenance Supervisor, the Industrial Maintenance Mechanic / Millwright maintains and repairs industrial processing equipment and heavy machinery in a high-production metal recycling operation. This hands-on position supports uptime on our auto shredder, conveyors and downstream sorting systems. We welcome experienced millwrights and capable mechanics with strong practical skills who want to continue developing their abilities. Company tools are provided.

Key Responsibilities

• Maintain, troubleshoot and repair conveyors, including bearings, pulleys, rollers, shafts, belts, sprockets and gearboxes; perform belt tracking and mechanical alignment.
• Remove and replace pins, bushings and wear components on excavators, wheel loaders, material handlers and attachments.
• Remove, disassemble, reseal and reinstall hydraulic cylinders.
• Rig, lift, position and install equipment using hoists, slings, chains, jacks and other approved lifting equipment.
• Perform stick welding, torch cutting, fabrication and steel repairs to guards, brackets, supports, catwalks and structural components; MIG welding as skills allow.
• Maintain and troubleshoot the auto shredder and downstream sorting equipment; complete preventative maintenance and inspections.
• Diagnose mechanical problems and develop practical, reliable repair solutions. Use sound judgment to balance quality, safety, equipment reliability and downtime.
• Coordinate with Operations to minimize downtime. Communicate equipment problems, repair progress and anticipated downtime to the Maintenance Supervisor and Operations team.
• Safely operate forklifts and other material handling equipment when trained and authorized.
• Maintain company tools and an organized work area. Assist with equipment improvements and perform other duties as assigned.

Safety & Compliance

• Follow all safety procedures, including lockout/tagout and hazardous-energy control before maintenance or repair.
• Use proper rigging and lifting practices, report unsafe conditions and equipment defects and wear required PPE.
• Maintain consistent attendance, arrive on time and communicate reliably to support planned maintenance and production needs.

Qualifications

Required

• Strong mechanical aptitude and hands-on experience with industrial machinery, heavy equipment or mechanical assemblies.
• Familiarity with bearings, shafts, pins, bushings and mechanical power-transmission components.
• Ability to use hand tools, power tools and mechanical repair equipment safely.
• Experience with welding and torch cutting; basic understanding of rigging and safe lifting.
• Practical troubleshooting skills, dependable attendance, teamwork and a strong commitment to safety.

Preferred, but not required

• Conveyor belt tracking, mechanical alignment and industrial millwright experience.
• Hydraulic cylinder repair and resealing; excavator, loader or material-handler repair experience.
• Proficiency in stick and MIG welding, advanced rigging and heavy equipment installation.
• Forklift operation and experience in recycling, aggregate, mining or similar heavy industry.
• Formal trade certification is not required. Relevant hands-on experience and demonstrated mechanical ability will be strongly considered.

Schedule & Work Conditions

• Regular schedule: Tuesday through Saturday, 7:00 AM-5:00 PM. Occasional extended hours or additional shifts may be required based on operational needs.
• Physically demanding indoor and outdoor work year-round, including dust, noise, weather and work around heavy machinery.
• Ability to lift and move materials up to 50 lbs. and to stand, walk, climb, bend, twist and work at heights while following safe work practices.
• Required PPE may include hard hat, safety glasses, high-visibility clothing, gloves, hearing protection and safety-toed boots.

Pay: $85,000.00 - $100,000.00 per year
