- Translate performance data, audience insights, and marketing briefs into strong, platform-native creative concepts.
- Adapt work fluidly for multiple formats and aspect ratios — Instagram, TikTok, YouTube, App Store, and beyond.
- Collaborate with creative, marketing, and editorial stakeholders to ensure visual output is on-brand and strategically aligned.
- Iterate quickly on creative based on testing results and campaign feedback.
- Help maintain and evolve Eater's visual identity across marketing contexts, ensuring consistency without sacrificing freshness.
Who You Are

- A strong portfolio demonstrating work across digital platforms — social, paid media, email, or app marketing — with clear evidence of creative range and visual taste.
- Exceptional typography instincts and a practiced eye for composition, hierarchy, and editorial photography.
- A baseline familiarity with performance marketing principles — you understand why creative gets tested and can design with that in mind.
- Genuine interest in food, dining, travel, or lifestyle media.
- Comfort working independently in a fast-moving environment and managing multiple workstreams simultaneously.
- Proficiency in Figma and the Adobe Creative Suite; familiarity with design systems and brand guidelines.

Marketing Designer Jobs in New York: Frequently Asked Questions
How do you become a marketing designer in New York?
Marketing designer roles in New York do not require a state-issued license or exam. Most employers expect a bachelor's degree in graphic design, visual communications, advertising, or a related field from an accredited program. New York institutions such as Parsons School of Design, School of Visual Arts, and Pratt Institute carry strong recognition with local hiring managers. A focused portfolio showing brand, digital, and campaign work is the most important credential for entering the New York market.
How much do marketing designers make in New York?
Marketing designers in New York earn a median of about $77,340 a year, based on May 2025 Bureau of Labor Statistics wage data, ranging from around $43,680 for the lowest 10% to over $131,250 for the top 10%. Pay rises with experience, specialty, and employer.
Which companies hire marketing designers in New York?
Employers hiring marketing designers in New York right now include Ralph Lauren, Figma, and Perry Ellis International, based on current listings on Migrate Mate as of June 2026. New York's dense concentration of advertising agencies, fashion and media brands, and financial services firms means marketing designer openings appear across a wide range of industries year-round.
Which New York cities have the most marketing designer jobs?
New York, Port Washington, and Bronx have the most marketing designer openings in New York. New York City dominates because it is home to the country's largest concentration of advertising agencies, consumer brands, and media companies, while surrounding areas like Brooklyn and White Plains generate additional openings tied to regional offices and mid-size creative studios anchored to the broader metro economy.
Are there remote marketing designer jobs in New York?
Yes, and more than many fields. How can I get hired as a marketing designer in New York with little or no experience?
The most realistic entry path is a junior designer or design associate role at a New York advertising or media agency, where structured onboarding and mentorship are common. Large agency groups such as WPP and Publicis regularly bring on recent graduates, and in-house creative teams at consumer brands often post associate designer positions suited to candidates with internship experience. Building a portfolio through freelance projects, design coursework, or personal brand work is more important than years of full-time experience when competing for these roles.
