Marketing Jobs in New York: Frequently Asked Questions
How do you become a marketing professional in New York?
Marketing does not require a state-issued license in New York, so entry is driven by education and demonstrated skills. Most employers expect a bachelor's degree in marketing, communications, advertising, or business. New York City's dense concentration of agencies, media companies, and brand headquarters means internships and portfolio work carry significant weight. Certifications from Google, Meta, or HubSpot are commonly listed in job postings and give candidates a practical edge in a competitive applicant pool.
How much do marketings make in New York?
Marketings in New York earn a median of about $181,200 a year, based on May 2025 Bureau of Labor Statistics wage data, ranging from around $104,140 for the lowest 10% to over $324,310 for the top 10%. Pay rises with experience, specialty, and employer.
Which companies hire marketings in New York?
Employers hiring marketings in New York right now include Amazon, HealixGlobal, and Ralph Lauren, based on current listings on Migrate Mate as of June 2026. New York's mix of global advertising holding companies, major media networks, consumer packaged goods firms, and financial services brands means hiring is distributed across a wide range of industries rather than concentrated in a single sector.
Which New York cities have the most marketing jobs?
New York, New York City, and Brooklyn have the most marketing openings in New York. New York City accounts for the vast majority of roles given its global concentration of advertising agencies, media companies, and consumer brand headquarters, while White Plains and other Westchester locations reflect the regional offices and corporate campuses of major consumer goods and pharmaceutical companies based just north of the city.
Are there remote marketing jobs in New York?
Yes, and more than most fields. About 32% of marketing openings tied to New York are remote or hybrid as of June 2026, reflecting the desk-based and digital nature of most marketing work. Roles in content creation, SEO, paid media, and email marketing are the most consistently available in remote or hybrid formats, while positions tied to events, retail, or in-person account management tend to require an on-site presence.
How can I get hired as a marketing professional in New York with little or no experience?
The most realistic entry path is through an internship or coordinator role at one of New York City's many mid-size agencies or in-house brand teams, where entry-level hires are common. Large employers such as Publicis, IPG agencies, and major media networks run structured internship and rotational programs for recent graduates. Lateral moves from adjacent roles in communications, public relations, or sales operations are also a recognized path. Building a portfolio of real campaign work, even from freelance or student projects, and earning a platform certification from Google or Meta will strengthen an application considerably.
Where can I find and apply to marketing jobs in New York?
You can find and apply to marketing jobs in New York on Migrate Mate, which lists current openings across New York City and the broader state. Search the listings for roles that match your experience level and specialty, then apply directly to the ones that fit.
