Mid Level Materials Manager Jobs: Frequently Asked Questions
How do I get a mid level materials manager job?
Lead with ownership, not just participation. Hiring managers at this level want to see that you managed a supply chain process, reduced a measurable inefficiency, or coordinated vendors independently. Tailor your resume to show scope and accountability on each role, highlight ERP system experience by name, and write a cover letter that connects your specific background to the employer's industry and scale.
Which companies hire mid level materials managers?
Companies hiring mid level materials managers right now include Terracon Consultants, D.H. Pace Company, and Apple, based on current listings on Migrate Mate as of July 2026. Hiring at this level covers manufacturers, distributors, healthcare systems, and defense contractors, all of which rely on experienced materials professionals to keep procurement and inventory operations running without constant senior oversight.
Are there remote mid level materials manager jobs?
Yes, though many roles in this field require at least some on-site presence. About 6% of mid level materials manager openings are remote or hybrid as of July 2026, concentrated in industries where procurement coordination and vendor communication can be handled digitally. Fully remote roles tend to involve strategic sourcing or purchasing planning rather than hands-on warehouse or production floor work.
How do I move up to a mid level materials manager role?
The path from entry level into mid level comes from deepening your ownership over time. That means moving beyond task execution to managing a full process, such as running a category of suppliers, leading a cycle count program, or resolving a fulfillment gap independently. Employers look for a history of measurable impact, proficiency in ERP platforms, and the ability to coordinate across procurement, operations, and finance without close supervision.
Which industries hire the most mid level materials managers?
Mid Level materials manager roles concentrate in Consulting & Professional Services, Manufacturing, and Electronics & Hardware, based on current listings on Migrate Mate as of July 2026. These sectors drive hiring at this level because they operate complex, high-volume supply chains where mid level professionals are needed to bridge strategic planning from senior leadership with day-to-day execution across purchasing, inventory control, and logistics.
