Nurse Practitioner Jobs in Wyoming: Frequently Asked Questions
How do you become a nurse practitioner in Wyoming?
You become a nurse practitioner in Wyoming by completing an accredited master's or doctoral nursing program, passing a national board certification exam through AANP or ANCC, and applying for licensure through the Wyoming State Board of Nursing. Wyoming participates in the Nurse Licensure Compact, so compact license holders from other states may practice without obtaining a separate Wyoming license. You will also need to apply for prescriptive authority separately through the Board.
How much do nurse practitioners make in Wyoming?
Nurse practitioners in Wyoming earn a median of about $132,200 a year, based on May 2025 Bureau of Labor Statistics wage data, ranging from around $101,970 for the lowest 10% to over $165,250 for the top 10%. Pay rises with experience, specialty, and employer.
Which companies hire nurse practitioners in Wyoming?
Wyoming nurse practitioner roles are posted by Community Health Center of Central Wyoming, COPA, and Uplift and others right now, based on current listings on Migrate Mate as of July 2026. Wyoming's largest hiring systems tend to be regional medical centers and federally qualified health centers serving the state's rural and frontier communities.
Which Wyoming cities have the most nurse practitioner jobs?
Cheyenne, Wyoming, and Riverton lead Wyoming in nurse practitioner openings. Cheyenne drives volume as the state capital and home to the largest hospital systems and the VA Medical Center, while Casper anchors the central Wyoming market around Wyoming Medical Center, and Laramie draws openings tied to the University of Wyoming's health services and surrounding rural clinics.
Are there remote nurse practitioner jobs in Wyoming?
Yes, but they're rare. About 57% of nurse practitioner openings tied to Wyoming are remote or hybrid as of July 2026, which reflects how hands-on most advanced practice roles are. Telehealth positions in psychiatric mental health are the most likely to offer fully remote or hybrid arrangements, particularly with platforms serving Wyoming's frontier communities.
How can I get hired as a nurse practitioner in Wyoming with little or no experience?
The most realistic path is applying to new-graduate NP residency or fellowship programs, with Cheyenne Regional Medical Center and Wyoming Medical Center being among the larger Wyoming employers that periodically run structured onboarding programs for new advanced practice providers. Federally qualified health centers and rural health clinics across the state often have more flexibility with new graduates in exchange for a service commitment. Candidates who already hold an RN license in a relevant specialty, hold national board certification, and can demonstrate clinical hours from their graduate program are at a clear advantage in Wyoming's competitive rural market.
Where can I find and apply to nurse practitioner jobs in Wyoming?
You can find and apply to nurse practitioner jobs in Wyoming on Migrate Mate, which lists current Wyoming openings from employers across the state. Find the roles that fit your specialty and experience level and apply directly.
