Nursing Supervisor Jobs in Tennessee: Frequently Asked Questions
How do you become a nursing supervisor in Tennessee?
You must hold an active registered nurse license through the Tennessee Board of Nursing, which requires passing the NCLEX-RN after completing an accredited nursing program. From there, most employers require several years of direct clinical experience before stepping into a supervisory role. Earning a Bachelor of Science in Nursing strengthens your candidacy, and pursuing certifications in nurse management or a clinical specialty relevant to your unit adds further credibility with Tennessee hiring managers.
Which companies hire nursing supervisors in Tennessee?
Employers hiring nursing supervisors in Tennessee right now include Ballad Health, Diversicare Healthcare Services, and CHS Corporate, based on current listings on Migrate Mate as of August 2026. Tennessee's large integrated health systems and its growing network of long-term care and behavioral health facilities generate consistent demand across the state throughout the year.
Which Tennessee cities have the most nursing supervisor jobs?
Memphis, Ducktown, and Franklin have the most nursing supervisor openings in Tennessee. Nashville leads because of its dense concentration of major hospital systems and corporate healthcare headquarters, while Memphis and Knoxville are anchored by large academic medical centers and regional health networks that maintain substantial nursing leadership pipelines.
Are there remote nursing supervisor jobs in Tennessee?
Yes, but they're rare. Nursing supervisors are primarily responsible for on-floor oversight, staffing decisions, and direct staff management, which requires physical presence in clinical settings. About 0% of nursing supervisor openings tied to Tennessee are remote or hybrid as of August 2026, and those positions tend to involve care coordination, utilization review, or case management components rather than traditional floor supervision.
How can I get hired as a nursing supervisor in Tennessee with little or no experience?
The most realistic path is moving into a charge nurse role first, which large Tennessee systems such as HCA Healthcare and Vanderbilt University Medical Center regularly fill from within their staff RN pools. Completing a nurse residency or leadership development program at a Tennessee hospital gives you formal supervisory exposure. Lateral moves from roles like care coordinator, clinical educator, or quality assurance nurse can also open the door, especially when paired with a BSN and a nurse management certification.
Where can I find and apply to nursing supervisor jobs in Tennessee?
You can find and apply to nursing supervisor jobs in Tennessee on Migrate Mate, which lists current openings from employers hiring across the state. Find the roles that fit your experience and specialty, and apply directly through each listing.
