Nursing Technician Jobs in Hawaii: Frequently Asked Questions
How do you become a nursing technician in Hawaii?
The foundational step is completing a state-approved nursing assistant training program and passing the competency evaluation to earn placement on the Hawaii Nurse Aide Registry, maintained by the Hawaii Department of Health. From there, employers typically require BLS certification and may prefer candidates who have completed additional clinical training. Some hospitals in Hawaii hire nursing technician candidates who are actively enrolled in an accredited nursing program, treating clinical coursework as partial qualification.
Which companies hire nursing technicians in Hawaii?
Hawaii nursing technician roles are posted by Always Best Care Senior Services, The Queen's Medical Center, and Hale Ho Aloha Nursing Home and others right now, based on current listings on Migrate Mate as of July 2026. Hawaii's hospital-heavy employment landscape means the largest systems and federally operated facilities on Oahu and the neighbor islands account for the majority of consistent openings.
Which Hawaii cities have the most nursing technician jobs?
Honolulu, Hilo, and Koloa have the most nursing technician openings in Hawaii. Honolulu drives the highest volume as home to the state's largest hospital campuses and medical centers, while Hilo and Kailua-Kona reflect demand tied to Hawaii Island's growing senior population and the regional facilities that serve it.
Are there remote nursing technician jobs in Hawaii?
Yes, but they're rare. Nursing technician work is fundamentally hands-on and requires direct patient contact, so the role is almost always on-site. About 0% of nursing technician openings tied to Hawaii are remote or hybrid as of July 2026, and those positions tend to involve patient monitoring, documentation support, or care coordination functions rather than direct bedside duties.
How can I get hired as a nursing technician in Hawaii with little or no experience?
The most realistic entry path is completing a Hawaii Department of Health-approved nursing assistant program and applying directly to hospitals or long-term care facilities that run new-hire training cohorts. The Queen's Health System and Hawaii Pacific Health periodically onboard candidates with limited clinical backgrounds into entry-level technician or patient care assistant roles, using internal orientation programs to bridge the gap. Candidates currently enrolled in a nursing program at the University of Hawaii or Kapiolani Community College often qualify for student technician roles while completing coursework, which provides a direct pipeline into full positions.
Where can I find and apply to nursing technician jobs in Hawaii?
You can find and apply to nursing technician jobs in Hawaii on Migrate Mate, which lists current openings across the state. Find roles that fit your experience and location, then apply directly to the employers posting them.
