Operations Lead Jobs in Michigan

MiNorthStays is a growing short-term rental management and ownership company serving Northern Michigan.

As our portfolio continues to grow, we are looking to bring more of our day-to-day property operations in-house. We are looking for someone who can initially help us with a combination of property cleaning, deep cleaning, guest-ready preparation, quality control, cleaner coordination, supply management, and operational support — with the opportunity to grow into a larger operations management role over time.

This is not simply a cleaning position.

We are looking for someone who wants to become an important part of the business, help us develop better systems, take ownership of properties, help oversee our broader cleaning network, and eventually take responsibility for a meaningful portion of MiNorthStays' day-to-day field operations.

The position will initially be approximately 15–20 hours per week, although hours will naturally vary based on guest turnover schedules and business needs.

We anticipate beginning with approximately 3–4 properties that this person will personally clean during the slower season. This will allow us to intentionally bring properties in-house, establish our systems, and grow the role at a manageable pace.

We also expect part of the schedule, especially during slower periods, to be filled through work such as:

• Deep cleaning additional properties across the portfolio
• Seasonal property refreshes
• Organizing supply closets and storage areas
• Inventory counts and restocking
• Property inspections
• Preventative maintenance checks
• Creating and improving checklists
• Documenting property-specific procedures
• Building cleaner training materials
• Setting up supply and linen systems
• Helping improve operational processes across the portfolio

Our goal is to create a role that provides meaningful, productive work even when regular turnover volume is lighter.

While this position requires reliability and certain responsibilities must happen within specific guest turnover windows, we also want to be thoughtful and reasonable about how the work gets done.

When the nature of the task allows for flexibility, we are open to it.

For example, some responsibilities such as:

• Quick property inspections
• Supply drop-offs
• Inventory checks
• Property walkthroughs
• Certain administrative or process-development tasks

may allow for more flexibility than a scheduled guest turnover.

We are not interested in creating unnecessary barriers for someone who is capable, dependable, and does excellent work simply because they also have a family.

At the same time, guest-ready standards, safety, professionalism, and required timelines will always need to be maintained.

Our goal is to build a team culture where people are trusted, supported, and given responsibility — while still being held to a high standard.

How the Role May Grow

We envision the role developing in stages.

Initially

The position may include:

• Personally cleaning approximately 3–4 properties
• Completing deep cleans across other properties
• Helping organize supplies, linens, and storage areas
• Conducting inspections
• Learning each property's unique needs
• Helping build checklists, policies, and operating procedures
• Supporting existing cleaners in other markets

As the Role Develops

Responsibilities may expand to:

• Coordinating cleaners across multiple markets
• Monitoring turnover quality
• Managing supply and inventory systems
• Helping onboard and train additional cleaners
• Coordinating deep-clean schedules across the portfolio
• Helping identify operational problems and solutions
• Performing or coordinating quality-control inspections
• Assisting with vendor and maintenance coordination

Longer Term

The role could increasingly shift toward:

• Overseeing the broader cleaning operation
• Managing cleaner coverage and performance
• Coordinating property operations across the portfolio
• Managing supply purchasing and distribution
• Training and supporting team members
• Maintaining policies, procedures, and operating standards
• Helping ensure day-to-day operations run smoothly without constant owner involvement

The long-term goal is not simply to add more and more properties for this person to personally clean.

Instead, we want someone who can begin by learning the operation firsthand and gradually help us build, manage, and improve the systems and team around it.

Pay: From $23.00 per hour

Expected hours: 15.0 – 20.0 per week
