Payroll Analyst Jobs in Georgia: Frequently Asked Questions
How do you become a payroll analyst in Georgia?
Becoming a payroll analyst in Georgia typically starts with a bachelor's degree in accounting, finance, or business administration, followed by entry-level payroll or accounting experience. Georgia does not require a state-issued license for payroll analysts, but earning the Certified Payroll Professional credential from the American Payroll Association is widely recognized by Georgia employers as the professional standard and meaningfully improves hiring prospects.
How much do payroll analysts make in Georgia?
Payroll analysts in Georgia earn a median of about $59,990 a year, based on May 2025 Bureau of Labor Statistics wage data, ranging from around $39,590 for the lowest 10% to over $76,790 for the top 10%. Pay rises with experience, specialty, and employer.
Which companies hire payroll analysts in Georgia?
Employers hiring payroll analysts in Georgia right now include Infor, Motion, and Schindler, based on current listings on Migrate Mate as of August 2026. Georgia's concentration of corporate headquarters in the Atlanta metro, alongside major healthcare networks and logistics employers, means consistent year-round demand across industries rather than hiring tied to a single sector.
Which Georgia cities have the most payroll analyst jobs?
Atlanta, Americus, and Savannah account for the most payroll analyst openings in Georgia. Atlanta drives the largest share because it serves as the headquarters base for major corporations in technology, airlines, and financial services, while Alpharetta draws demand from the dense cluster of financial technology and software companies in its north Atlanta corridor, and Savannah's growth in logistics and manufacturing has expanded professional services hiring in that market.
Are there remote payroll analyst jobs in Georgia?
Yes, and more than most fields. About 33% of payroll analyst openings tied to Georgia are remote or hybrid as of August 2026, reflecting that payroll work is primarily desk-based, systems-driven, and does not require on-site presence for most tasks. The functions most consistently offered remotely are payroll processing, reporting, and systems administration, while roles with significant HR coordination or compliance oversight tend to require at least some in-office time.
How can I get hired as a payroll analyst in Georgia with little or no experience?
The most realistic entry path is moving into payroll from a related accounting or HR assistant role, which large Georgia employers such as Piedmont Healthcare and NCR Voyix regularly post as stepping-stone positions. Completing an associate degree or accounting certificate at institutions like Georgia Perimeter College and pairing it with the Fundamental Payroll Certification from the American Payroll Association gives candidates a measurable edge with Georgia employers who prioritize demonstrated systems knowledge over years of experience.
Where can I find and apply to payroll analyst jobs in Georgia?
