What Makes Modern Animal Different?
We're not just here to build better clinics—we're here to build better days. Our clinic managers are empowered to lead with heart, hold high standards, and make space for humor, compassion, and human connection, even on the hard days.
At Modern Animal, you can expect:

THE ROLE: CLINIC MANAGER
This isn't just people management. This is people development. Culture-building. Leading through empathy and clarity. And being the person who makes others feel like they belong. Your mission:
Help build, coach, and lead a team that delivers exceptional veterinary care with empathy and excellence. You'll be the onsite leader—ensuring your clinic is not only operationally sound but also emotionally healthy.

- Collaborating on hiring and onboarding with an eye toward both skill and cultural fit
- Owning and optimizing the schedule to ensure flow, productivity, and sustainability
- Managing performance, giving meaningful feedback, and championing growth
- Contributing to a thriving business by upholding operational excellence and financial health as foundations for sustainable, high-quality care
- Modeling and maintaining a culture of kindness, curiosity, accountability, and humor
- Advocating for your clinic and making sure the team's voice is heard in broader company conversations
- Jumping in where needed—whether it's on the floor, in a client conversation, or in a strategy meeting
YOU MIGHT THRIVE HERE IF YOU:
- Have 5+ years of people leadership experience (veterinary preferred, but not required)
- See both the forest and the trees—you can zoom into the details while never losing sight of the big picture
- Lead with humility and openness, and see feedback as a tool for building trust and driving growth
- Know how to create psychological safety, set expectations, and hold people to them with warmth
- Are excited to try new things, make mistakes, and help make something that doesn't exist yet
WHAT WE'LL OFFER YOU:
- Medical, dental, and vision coverage with multiple plans to choose from
- 401k with company match
- Paid vacation and sick time
- Paid parental leave
- Free Modern Animal membership for your pets and discounts on services
- Access to mental health and well-being support via Spring Health
- A team that supports and celebrates each other

Tips for Your Practice Manager Job Search
Tailor your resume to the setting
Healthcare practice managers and legal practice managers face very different screening criteria. Align your resume's language to the specific setting, whether that's a dental group, law firm, or multi-specialty clinic, so hiring managers see immediate relevance before reading past the summary.
Quantify operational improvements you drove
Generic claims about 'overseeing operations' won't separate you from other applicants. Name the processes you changed, the inefficiencies you closed, and what that meant for scheduling capacity, billing accuracy, or staff retention. Concrete outcomes carry more weight than titles alone.
Target group practices and multi-location roles
Solo-provider practices rarely budget for a dedicated practice manager, so focus your search on group practices, health systems, and multi-site organizations. These employers post more consistently, offer clearer growth paths, and often have standardized hiring pipelines you can research in advance.
Apply early to roles that fit
Migrate Mate lists practice manager openings from across the United States in one place, so you can find roles that match and apply directly to each listing.
Prepare for a working-interview format
Many practices ask finalists to walk through a mock scheduling conflict, billing dispute, or staff performance scenario on the spot. Review the practice's specialty ahead of time and rehearse talking through your decision process out loud, not just the outcome you'd reach.
Negotiate beyond base pay at offer stage
Practice manager offers often have flexibility in continuing-education allowances, performance bonuses tied to billing metrics, and remote work on administrative days. Ask about each of these before accepting, because practices rarely volunteer them unless prompted.
Practice Manager Jobs: Frequently Asked Questions
Which companies are hiring the most practice managers?
The companies hiring the most practice managers right now include Banfield Pet Hospital, Petco, and Houston Methodist, with the largest share of openings in Texas, New York, and Florida, based on current listings on Migrate Mate as of June 2026. Multi-site group practices and regional health systems tend to post the most consistently throughout the year.
How many practice manager jobs are remote?
About 12% of practice manager openings are fully remote or hybrid as of June 2026, with remote options most common in revenue cycle management, credentialing, and administrative oversight roles. Positions that include direct staff supervision or patient-facing coordination are almost always on-site or hybrid rather than fully remote.
How do you become a practice manager?
Start by building experience in a medical, dental, or legal office in a coordinator or office administrator role, then move into supervisory responsibilities for scheduling, billing, or staff management. A bachelor's degree in healthcare administration or business strengthens your candidacy, and earning a certification through MGMA or ACMPE signals readiness for independent practice leadership to most employers.
Can you get hired as a practice manager with little experience?
Yes, smaller single-provider or startup practices will hire candidates who show strong organizational instincts and familiarity with the practice's software, even without a full management title on their resume. Emphasize any experience owning a process end to end, whether that's billing follow-up, onboarding a new hire, or coordinating a schedule overhaul, rather than focusing on what your title was.
What does the practice manager interview process look like?
Most practices run two to three rounds: a phone screen with HR or the hiring physician, a longer in-person interview covering operational scenarios and your approach to staff conflicts, and sometimes a working session where you walk through a real scheduling or billing problem. References are typically checked before a final offer, and some larger groups add a panel interview with clinical leads.
Where can I find and apply to practice manager jobs?
You can find and apply to practice manager jobs on Migrate Mate, which lists current openings from across the United States in one place. Search the listings to find roles that match your specialty and experience level, then apply directly to each one that fits.
