Principal Solutions Engineer Jobs in Florida: Frequently Asked Questions

Becoming a principal solutions engineer in Florida typically starts with a bachelor's degree in computer science, information systems, or engineering, followed by progressive experience in technical sales, pre-sales, or solutions architecture. Florida employers at this level expect hands-on expertise with enterprise platforms and a record of owning complex client engagements. Industry certifications from vendors such as AWS, Microsoft, or Salesforce strengthen candidacy significantly, as Florida's technology and defense sectors place heavy weight on verifiable technical credentials.
How much do principal solutions engineers make in Florida?
Principal solutions engineers in Florida earn a median of about $125,530 a year, based on May 2025 Bureau of Labor Statistics wage data, ranging from around $73,210 for the lowest 10% to over $206,760 for the top 10%. Pay rises with experience, specialty, and employer.
Which companies hire principal solutions engineers in Florida?
Employers hiring principal solutions engineers in Florida right now include Accenture Federal Services, Kaseya, and Dell Technologies, based on current listings on Migrate Mate as of October 2026. Florida's concentration of defense contractors, regional financial institutions, and large healthcare systems means demand extends well beyond pure technology firms.
Which Florida cities have the most principal solutions engineer jobs?
Tampa, Miami, and Coral Gables have the most principal solutions engineer openings in Florida. Miami anchors demand through its dense financial services and Latin American headquarter presence, Tampa draws heavily from defense contractors and regional banks along the Gulf Coast, and Orlando's growing technology corridor and simulation industry cluster support consistent hiring at senior technical levels.
Are there remote principal solutions engineer jobs in Florida?
Yes, and more than most technical roles. About 100% of principal solutions engineer openings tied to Florida are remote or hybrid as of October 2026, reflecting how much of the work centers on client calls, solution design, and documentation rather than on-site installation. The portions of the role most often done remotely include technical discovery, proposal development, and architecture reviews, while enterprise kickoffs and executive briefings sometimes require in-person presence.
How can I get hired as a principal solutions engineer in Florida with little or no experience?
The most realistic entry path is through a junior or associate solutions engineer role at a Florida-based technology distributor, managed services provider, or large enterprise software reseller, where you support senior engineers on client engagements and build platform expertise. Lateral moves from inside sales engineering, technical support, or systems administration are common doors in. Earning a vendor certification such as AWS Cloud Practitioner or Salesforce Administrator gives candidates in Florida a concrete credential that hiring managers at firms like IBM, Unisys, and regional defense contractors recognize when evaluating less-experienced applicants.
