Most candidates enter through a bachelor's degree in computer science, engineering, or information systems, then build several years of experience in solutions consulting or pre-sales technical roles. Massachusetts employers frequently prioritize vendor certifications from AWS, Microsoft, or Cisco alongside a demonstrated portfolio of enterprise deals closed or technical architectures delivered.
How much do principal solutions engineers make in Massachusetts?
Principal solutions engineers in Massachusetts earn a median of about $136,200 a year, based on May 2025 Bureau of Labor Statistics wage data, ranging from around $77,490 for the lowest 10% to over $177,100 for the top 10%. Pay rises with experience, specialty, and employer.
Which companies hire principal solutions engineers in Massachusetts?
Employers hiring principal solutions engineers in Massachusetts right now include Amazon Web Services, CarGurus, and Raytheon, based on current listings on Migrate Mate as of August 2026. Which Massachusetts cities have the most principal solutions engineer jobs?
The cities with the most principal solutions engineer openings in Massachusetts are Boston, Newton, and Cambridge. Boston and Cambridge drive the largest share through their dense clusters of enterprise software vendors, financial technology firms, and life sciences companies, while Waltham and Burlington attract openings from major technology company regional campuses that rely heavily on pre-sales and solutions teams to serve Northeast accounts.
