This role is ideal for a lawyer who enjoys embedding directly with product, engineering, and go-to-market teams to shape products from concept through launch, providing practical, proactive, and commercially savvy legal guidance in the fast-moving payments and commerce technology industry.
Successful candidates will have significant experience counseling on product development and design, terms of service and end-user/merchant agreements, data privacy and security, and regulatory considerations affecting hardware, software, SaaS, and cloud-based payment products. Candidates should have a genuine interest in and aptitude for technology, product innovation, and the payments industry.
This role will partner closely with product management, engineering, design, marketing, and compliance teams, balancing legal risk with the need to ship products quickly in a highly competitive market.
Key Responsibilities
- Provide day-to-day legal support and practical guidance to product, engineering, and technology teams across the full product lifecycle.
- Advise on product design and development, feature launches, terms of service, privacy policies, and end-user or merchant-facing agreements.
- Counsel on data privacy and security compliance (e.g., GDPR, CCPA/CPRA) as applied to consumer- and merchant-facing products.
- Review and negotiate technology and commercial agreements, including SaaS, API, cloud hosting, and third-party vendor/licensing arrangements.
- Translate payments industry regulatory considerations (e.g., PCI DSS, card network rules) into clear, actionable product guidance.
- Partner cross-functionally with product management, engineering, design, marketing, and compliance teams to balance legal risk with the need to ship quickly in a competitive market.
- Collaborate with other members of the global legal team to ensure consistency and alignment across the broader legal function.
Qualifications
- At least 7-10 years' experience in the practice of law, with substantial experience providing day-to-day legal support to product, engineering, or technology teams.
- Previous large law firm and/or in-house experience, ideally within a technology, software, fintech, or payments company.
- Demonstrated experience advising on the full product lifecycle, including product design and development, feature launches, terms of service, privacy policies, and end-user or merchant-facing agreements.
- Working knowledge of data privacy and security laws (e.g., GDPR, CCPA/CPRA) and their application to consumer and merchant-facing products.
- Experience reviewing and negotiating technology and commercial agreements, including SaaS, API, cloud hosting, and third-party vendor/licensing arrangements.
- Awareness of payments industry regulatory considerations (e.g., PCI DSS, card network rules) and ability to translate them into practical product guidance.
- Problem-solver with the ability to provide clear, practical legal advice in a fast-paced, agile development environment while maintaining a high level of professionalism and sound judgment.
- Ability to communicate clearly and effectively with product, engineering, design, and marketing teams, as well as other members of the legal department.
- Ability to work effectively both independently and as a member of a cross-functional team.
- Excellent decision-making and problem-solving skills and demonstrated good judgment.

Product Director Jobs in Pennsylvania: Frequently Asked Questions
How do you become a product director in Pennsylvania?
Product director roles in Pennsylvania require no state-issued license or registration. The typical path is a bachelor's degree in business, computer science, or engineering followed by progressive product management experience, often starting as an associate or senior product manager before moving into director-level leadership. Pennsylvania employers, particularly in Philadelphia's tech corridor and Pittsburgh's healthcare and robotics sectors, frequently promote from within and value demonstrated ownership of shipped products over specific degree fields.
Which companies hire product directors in Pennsylvania?
Employers hiring product directors in Pennsylvania right now include CVS Health, Five Below, and RELX, based on current listings on Migrate Mate as of August 2026. Pennsylvania's concentration of large healthcare systems, financial services firms, and enterprise software companies means demand for product directors with domain experience in those verticals is especially consistent.
Which Pennsylvania cities have the most product director jobs?
Philadelphia, Pittsburgh, and Harrisburg lead Pennsylvania for product director openings. Philadelphia dominates due to its dense concentration of health tech companies, financial institutions, and media firms, while Pittsburgh's growth in autonomous systems, healthcare IT, and academic spinouts drives demand there, and smaller markets reflect the presence of major corporate campuses or regional headquarters in those areas.
Are there remote product director jobs in Pennsylvania?
Yes, and more than most fields. Product director work is predominantly strategic, collaborative, and screen-based, making it well suited to remote arrangements. About 75% of product director openings tied to Pennsylvania are remote or hybrid as of August 2026, reflecting how broadly distributed product teams have become. The most remote-friendly sub-roles tend to be those focused on platform strategy, analytics, or enterprise SaaS where on-site presence is rarely required.
How can I get hired as a product director in Pennsylvania with little or no experience?
The most realistic entry path is transitioning from a senior individual-contributor product manager role into a director position at a mid-size Pennsylvania company rather than targeting large enterprises first. Employers like UPMC Enterprises, Comcast Technology Solutions, and mid-market fintech firms in Philadelphia's Navy Yard regularly post senior PM roles that carry informal leadership responsibility and serve as direct pipelines to director titles. Building a portfolio of shipped products, leading a cross-functional initiative, or completing a recognized product management certificate strengthens a candidate's case considerably.
Where can I find and apply to product director jobs in Pennsylvania?
