Compensation
At S&C, we are dedicated to providing competitive and equitable compensation for all our team members, and we are committed to transparency in our pay practices. The estimated annual base salary range for this position is $106,073 - $140,549.64. Individual pay within this salary range is determined by several compensable factors, including performance, knowledge, job-related skills and experience, and relevant education or training. This role is also eligible for S&C’s annual incentive plan (AIP), subject to eligibility criteria.

Are you passionate about Product Engineering? S&C Electric Company is seeking a dynamic individual to join our Product Engineering team. As Assistant Manager-Product Engineering, you’ll be crucial in ensuring continued innovation and supporting our diverse team.
The Assistant Manager-Product Engineering is responsible for the day-to-day leadership of the Product Engineering team with a focus on short-term plans and goal-setting. The Assistant Manager works under the guidance of the Manager-Product Engineering-AGU and focuses on scheduling work, ensuring short-term results and supporting daily operations. They have limited to no budget accountability but play a key role in executing tactical plans and managing the team's workload for fuse products. The products to be supported are the Chicago based products: SMD Transmission Fuses, Fault Fiter, Fault Tamer, Fuse Links and fuse mountings.
Key Responsibilities:

Day-to-Day Leadership: Support the oversight of product engineering activities for assigned product lines, focus on short-term operational goals and ensure work is scheduled and completed on time. Manage a team of engineers and designers to execute sustaining engineering activities for fuse product lines which include product requirement analysis, specifications, design, testing, implementation and documentation. Coach and train the engineering team members to ensure an elevated level of productivity and performance.

Goal Setting: Set and manage short-term operational goals for the product engineering team, ensuring alignment with tactical plans set by senior leaders.

Continuous Product Improvement: Provide engineering oversite for product improvement projects and product extension projects. Create project schedules, tasks and project completion time estimates and manage the engineering team to deliver projects on time and of high-quality.

Customer Feedback: Assist in managing product feedback and issues that arise from Salesforce or other sources, ensure that the team addresses customer concerns or identified issues promptly. Providing technical input on RMA evaluations, review, and approve RMA reports and manage implementation of product and process changes as required.

Cross-Functional Collaboration: Work closely with Assembly, Manufacturing Engineering and Quality teams to ensure product designs meet quality and manufacturing standards. Offer technical support and guidance. Work with the Assembly, Manufacturing Engineering and Quality teams to resolve internal product issues.

Documentation and Reporting: Generate technical documentation, procedures and reports to document processes.

Leadership & People Management: Manage the day-to-day operations of the Product Engineering team, including scheduling work, tracking progress and ensuring timely delivery of projects. Manage departmental administrative team member processes, including but not limited to recruitment, induction, vacation management, performance reviews, performance improvement plans and workforce/succession planning.

Continuous Learning: Promote a culture of continuous learning, innovation and collaboration, promoting cross-functional interactions and knowledge sharing among team members. Drive continuous improvement initiatives for process improvements, gathering feedback, analyzing data and implementing enhancement to optimize performance and efficiency.

Compliance: Understand and comply with all applicable company policies and rules.
What you’ll Need To Succeed:
Job Requirements (To select this job at a minimum you must have the following):

Bachelor’s Degree in Electrical Engineering or Mechanical Engineering

7-10 years of experience in product engineering, product support, design and development experience.

Rounded communication skills (written, verbal, listening and presentation); able to liaise with internal and external stakeholders at and present compellingly.

Rounded project management skills with the ability to lead projects and product implementations, plan and manage short-term goals, scheduling and day-to-day team operations.
-
Great interpersonal skills to establish meaningful relationships built on mutual trust and respect, navigate and resolve conflict, moderate behaviors and foster collaborative working relationships amongst a diverse audience.

Excellent problem-solving skills (i.e 4SPS, root cause analysis and continuous improvement initiatives).

Experience in electro-mechanical system design, assembly, fabrication and testing.
-
Sound business sense and analytical skills with the ability to use and analyze data to drive informed decisions, solve complex problems and drive learning.

Experience with high-power and high-voltage testing and ample knowledge of IEEE standards for medium and high-voltage fuses.

Ability to travel.
Major Physical Demands:
Sitting- Frequently required to remain in a stationary position and perform desk-based tasks for 8 hours at a time approximately [5] days per week
Walking- Occasionally required to walk moderate distances multiple times each day while performing a FAT or on a job site
Manual Dexterity- Frequently required to use hand-eye coordination to control both hands and arms for a full range of motion to operate equipment/machinery/power tools/office productivity equipment
Observation / Eyesight- Frequently required to observe details at close range, including depth perception, peripheral vision, and the ability to differentiate between colors
Communication- Continuously required to talk and hear, in person and by phone/conference calls
Travel- Occasionally required to travel (up to 20%) and work extended hours when necessary. Required to travel overnight and infrequently, on weekends. Infrequently required to travel internationally.
