Product Engineering Manager Jobs in Ohio: Frequently Asked Questions
How do you become a product engineering manager in Ohio?
The typical path starts with a bachelor's degree in mechanical, electrical, computer, or systems engineering, followed by several years as an individual contributor on a product development team. Ohio does not require a state-issued license to hold the product engineering manager title, though a Professional Engineer registration through the Ohio State Board of Registration for Professional Engineers and Surveyors can strengthen candidacy at regulated employers in aerospace, medical devices, or infrastructure. Most Ohio hiring managers promote strong senior engineers who demonstrate cross-functional leadership and project ownership.
How much do product engineering managers make in Ohio?
Product engineering managers in Ohio earn a median of about $166,870 a year, based on May 2025 Bureau of Labor Statistics wage data, ranging from around $117,640 for the lowest 10% to over $220,990 for the top 10%. Pay rises with experience, specialty, and employer.
Which companies hire product engineering managers in Ohio?
Employers hiring product engineering managers in Ohio right now include Nationwide Mutual Insurance Company, GE Aerospace, and Kaiser Aluminum, based on current listings on Migrate Mate as of August 2026. Ohio's concentration of Fortune 500 manufacturers, defense contractors, and health technology companies means demand for this role remains consistent well beyond peak hiring seasons.
Which Ohio cities have the most product engineering manager jobs?
Columbus, Heath, and Maumee have the most product engineering manager openings in Ohio right now. Columbus leads because of its growing technology and healthcare device sector, Cleveland draws demand from Parker Hannifin, Sherwin-Williams, and the broader advanced manufacturing corridor along the northern part of the state, and Cincinnati reflects Procter and Gamble's large consumer product engineering presence alongside regional aerospace and automotive suppliers.
Are there remote product engineering manager jobs in Ohio?
Yes, but they are less common than in purely software-focused roles. About 33% of product engineering manager openings tied to Ohio are remote or hybrid as of August 2026, reflecting the fact that the role often requires hands-on collaboration with hardware teams, lab environments, or manufacturing floors. The parts of the job most amenable to remote work are roadmap planning, stakeholder reviews, and cross-team coordination.
How can I get hired as a product engineering manager in Ohio with little or no experience?
The most realistic entry path is moving into a team lead or technical lead role within a product engineering group before pursuing a manager title. Large Ohio employers like Honeywell, Rockwell Automation, and Cardinal Health run rotational engineering programs and new-graduate development tracks that build the cross-functional exposure hiring managers look for. Adjacent roles such as systems engineer, product owner, or manufacturing process engineer are common stepping stones. Earning a Certified Associate in Project Management credential or completing a product management certificate from an Ohio university extension program adds measurable credibility early in the transition.
Where can I find and apply to product engineering manager jobs in Ohio?
You can find and apply to product engineering manager jobs in Ohio on Migrate Mate, which lists current Ohio openings updated on an ongoing basis. Search the listings for roles that match your experience level and industry background, then apply directly to the ones that fit.
