Job Description:
The Department of Art seeks an Assistant Professor of Practice in Digital Drawing and Graphic Design with expertise in User Experience (UX) and User Interface (UI) design. This is a non-tenure-track faculty position responsible for teaching undergraduate courses, mentoring students, contributing to curriculum development, and supporting the growth of programs in digital design and emerging technologies.
The successful candidate will bring professional experience in graphic design, digital illustration, UX/UI design, contemporary design workflows, and digital media art. The position emphasizes high-quality teaching, student engagement, and professional preparation for careers in creative industries, digital media, and interactive design.
Job Requirements:
An MFA in Graphic Design, Interactive Design, Digital Media, or a closely related field, or a bachelor's degree with at least five years of professional experience in graphic design, UX/UI design, interactive/web design, motion design, animation, or related areas. Candidates should demonstrate active professional practice and a record of creative achievement in one or more of these fields.
Preferred Qualifications:
Two or more years of college-level teaching experience and the ability to teach courses in graphic design, UX/UI design, app design, motion design, animation, and related areas. Experience with public art, mural art, or community-engaged creative projects is desirable.
Candidates should maintain active engagement with current industry practices and emerging technologies, including digital design workflows, user-centered design methodologies, accessibility and inclusive design standards, prototyping and wireframing tools, Adobe Creative Cloud, Figma, and AI-assisted tools for creative practice.
