Program Supervisor Jobs in North Dakota: Frequently Asked Questions
How do you become a program supervisor in North Dakota?
Most program supervisor roles in North Dakota require a bachelor's degree in social work, public administration, human services, or a related field, followed by direct experience in program coordination or frontline service delivery. Roles in behavioral health or social services may expect familiarity with North Dakota Department of Human Services licensing standards. Supervisors overseeing licensed social workers should understand North Dakota Board of Social Work Examiners requirements, even if the supervisor role itself carries no individual license.
Which companies hire program supervisors in North Dakota?
Companies currently hiring program supervisors in North Dakota include US Department of Veterans Affairs, CVS Health, and Northwestern Mutual, per current listings on Migrate Mate as of July 2026. North Dakota's state agencies, regional health systems, and nonprofit human services organizations are among the most consistent sources of openings for this role.
Which North Dakota cities have the most program supervisor jobs?
Fargo, Bismarck, and Williston have the most program supervisor openings in North Dakota. Bismarck dominates because it is the state capital and home to the largest concentration of state agency offices, while Fargo's size and its health and social services sector drive demand there, and Grand Forks benefits from University of North Dakota-affiliated programs and regional nonprofit activity.
Are there remote program supervisor jobs in North Dakota?
Yes, but they're rare. Program supervisor work typically involves direct oversight of staff, community partners, or service sites, which limits full remote arrangements. About 19% of program supervisor openings tied to North Dakota are remote or hybrid as of July 2026, with most flexible options found in grant administration, data reporting, or statewide program coordination roles that do not require daily on-site presence.
How can I get hired as a program supervisor in North Dakota with little or no experience?
The most realistic entry path is moving into a coordinator or case manager role first, then building toward supervision. North Dakota Department of Human Services county offices and organizations such as Southeast Human Service Center regularly hire program coordinators and case managers as stepping stones. Gaining experience with grant-funded programs, completing a North Dakota-accredited social work or public administration degree, and obtaining any relevant certification in behavioral health or disability services strengthens a candidate's progression into a supervisory title.
Where can I find and apply to program supervisor jobs in North Dakota?
You can find and apply to program supervisor jobs in North Dakota on Migrate Mate, which lists current openings from employers across the state. Search the listings, find the roles that fit your background and location, and apply directly to whichever ones match.
