Public Relations Representative Jobs in Oklahoma: Frequently Asked Questions
How do you become a public relations representative in Oklahoma?
Oklahoma does not require a state-issued license to work as a public relations representative, so the path runs through education and credentials. Most employers expect a bachelor's degree in public relations, communications, or journalism from an accredited program such as those at the University of Oklahoma or Oklahoma State University. Earning the Accreditation in Public Relations (APR) credential through the Public Relations Society of America strengthens competitiveness significantly, especially for roles with state agencies, tribal governments, or major corporations.
Which companies hire public relations representatives in Oklahoma?
Oklahoma public relations representative roles are posted by State Farm, MidFirst Bank, and The Salvation Army and others right now, based on current listings on Migrate Mate as of July 2026. Oklahoma's energy sector, large healthcare systems, and tribal nations are among the most consistent sources of full-time public relations hiring in the state.
Which Oklahoma cities have the most public relations representative jobs?
Oklahoma City, Tulsa, and Bixby have the most public relations representative openings in Oklahoma. Oklahoma City dominates due to its concentration of state government agencies, hospital systems, and corporate headquarters, while Tulsa's strong base of energy companies, financial institutions, and arts organizations drives demand there, and smaller metros see openings tied to their anchor universities and regional healthcare networks.
Are there remote public relations representative jobs in Oklahoma?
Yes, and they are more common than in many fields, since much of the work involves writing, media outreach, and digital communications that travel well. About 0% of public relations representative openings tied to Oklahoma are remote or hybrid as of July 2026, reflecting how broadly distributed PR talent can be across locations. Media relations and content strategy roles are the sub-areas most likely to be fully remote, while community affairs and government relations positions tend to require an on-site presence.
How can I get hired as a public relations representative in Oklahoma with little or no experience?
The most realistic entry path is an internship or communications assistant role at an Oklahoma City or Tulsa organization, since those positions are specifically designed for candidates without full professional experience. Large Oklahoma employers such as INTEGRIS Health, the University of Oklahoma, and state agencies regularly bring in communications interns and coordinator-level hires from local university programs. Adjacent roles in marketing coordination, social media management, or administrative communications also move directly into PR tracks. Building a writing portfolio and earning student membership in the Public Relations Society of America strengthens any application at this stage.
Where can I find and apply to public relations representative jobs in Oklahoma?
You can find and apply to public relations representative jobs in Oklahoma on Migrate Mate, which lists current openings from employers hiring in the state right now.
