Candidates who complete professional certifications such as the SHRM-CP or PHR gain a clear edge with larger agencies. Many New Jersey staffing firms, particularly those in the pharmaceutical and financial corridors, run structured onboarding programs that move new hires from researcher to full consultant roles within several months.
How much do recruitment consultants make in New Jersey?
Recruitment consultants in New Jersey earn a median of about $80,690 a year, based on May 2025 Bureau of Labor Statistics wage data, ranging from around $56,420 for the lowest 10% to over $132,770 for the top 10%. Pay rises with experience, specialty, and employer.

New Jersey's dense cluster of pharmaceutical headquarters, financial services firms, and regional staffing agencies makes it one of the more consistent states for ongoing consultant openings.
Which New Jersey cities have the most recruitment consultant jobs?
The cities with the most recruitment consultant openings in New Jersey are Princeton, Englewood Cliffs, and Bridgewater. Newark and Jersey City attract volume driven by financial services and professional staffing firms with proximity to the New York metro market, while Parsippany and Princeton corridor suburbs concentrate openings tied to pharmaceutical and life sciences headquarters that maintain large in-house and agency recruiting operations.

Yes, and more than most fields. About 66% of recruitment consultant openings tied to New Jersey are remote or hybrid as of August 2026, reflecting the desk-based and relationship-driven nature of the role. Business development and candidate sourcing functions are the most commonly offered in fully remote or hybrid arrangements, while roles requiring on-site client partnership or account management in regulated industries like pharmaceuticals tend to require more in-person presence.
