RN Staff Nurse Jobs in Georgia: Frequently Asked Questions
How do you become a rn staff nurse in Georgia?
You become an rn staff nurse in Georgia by earning an associate or bachelor's degree in nursing, passing the NCLEX-RN exam, and obtaining an active registered nurse license through the Georgia Board of Nursing. Applications are submitted through the Board's licensing portal, and Georgia also participates in the Nurse Licensure Compact, meaning a multistate license from a compact state may be recognized. Most Georgia hospitals then hire directly from new-graduate candidate pools tied to their affiliated nursing schools.
How much do RN staff nurses make in Georgia?
RN staff nurses in Georgia earn a median of about $93,550 a year, based on May 2025 Bureau of Labor Statistics wage data, ranging from around $68,920 for the lowest 10% to over $128,640 for the top 10%. Pay rises with experience, specialty, and employer.
Which companies hire rn staff nurses in Georgia?
Employers hiring rn staff nurses in Georgia right now include Colquitt Regional Medical Center, Tanner Health, and AdventHealth Redmond, based on current listings on Migrate Mate as of August 2026. Georgia's large integrated health systems, including regional networks outside Atlanta, tend to post consistently throughout the year rather than in seasonal bursts.
Which Georgia cities have the most rn staff nurse jobs?
Moultrie, Rome, and Carrollton have the most rn staff nurse openings in Georgia. Atlanta drives the largest share through its dense concentration of hospital systems and specialty care centers, while Augusta's volume is anchored by Augusta University Medical Center and the VA, and Savannah's growth reflects rapid expansion in coastal healthcare infrastructure serving a fast-growing population.
How can I get hired as a rn staff nurse in Georgia with little or no experience?
The most realistic entry path is applying to a nurse residency program through a large Georgia health system. Emory Healthcare, Wellstar Health System, and Piedmont Healthcare all run structured new-graduate residencies that provide mentored clinical rotations for nurses with no prior hospital experience. Candidates strengthen their applications by holding an active Georgia Board of Nursing license before applying, completing a clinical capstone in an acute care setting, and targeting medical-surgical units, which are the most accessible entry point into staff nursing in Georgia.
