Sales Engineer Jobs in Kansas: Frequently Asked Questions
How do you become a sales engineer in Kansas?
Most sales engineer roles in Kansas require a bachelor's degree in mechanical, electrical, or industrial engineering, or a closely related technical field. Kansas does not mandate a state-issued license specifically for sales engineers, though candidates with a Professional Engineer license from the Kansas State Board of Technical Professions gain a meaningful competitive edge for roles involving technical consulting or design review. Employers in Wichita's aerospace manufacturing corridor and Kansas City's industrial sector strongly prefer candidates who pair engineering credentials with demonstrated customer-facing experience.
How much do sales engineers make in Kansas?
Sales engineers in Kansas earn a median of about $98,000 a year, based on May 2025 Bureau of Labor Statistics wage data, ranging from around $69,990 for the lowest 10% to over $159,210 for the top 10%. Pay rises with experience, specialty, and employer.
Which companies hire sales engineers in Kansas?
Companies currently hiring sales engineers in Kansas include SMITH & LOVELESS, Delinea, and Fortinet, per current listings on Migrate Mate as of September 2026. Kansas's concentration of aerospace, agriculture technology, and energy infrastructure employers means demand stays broad across both large corporations and regional distributors.
Which Kansas cities have the most sales engineer jobs?
Lenexa, Kansas, and Kansas City account for the largest share of sales engineer openings in Kansas. Wichita drives volume through its aerospace and advanced manufacturing base, while Kansas City and Overland Park attract roles tied to corporate headquarters, distribution networks, and technology companies that rely on sales engineers to support mid-market and enterprise clients.
Are there remote sales engineer jobs in Kansas?
Yes, and more than many technical roles, because sales engineers frequently support geographically distributed accounts that do not require daily on-site presence. About 60% of sales engineer openings tied to Kansas are remote or hybrid as of September 2026, reflecting how broadly the role has adapted to virtual product demonstrations and digital sales cycles. Pre-sales work, technical scoping calls, and software product support are the functions most consistently available in remote formats.
How can I get hired as a sales engineer in Kansas with little or no experience?
The most realistic entry path is moving into a sales engineer role from an adjacent technical position such as field service technician, applications engineer, or inside sales representative at an industrial distributor. Large Kansas employers like Garmin and Koch subsidiary companies run structured rotational or associate programs that place early-career engineers into customer-facing roles. Completing an internship with a Wichita aerospace supplier or an Overland Park technology firm, then earning an Engineer-in-Training credential through the Kansas State Board of Technical Professions, signals technical credibility to hiring managers even without direct sales experience.
Where can I find and apply to sales engineer jobs in Kansas?
You can find and apply to sales engineer jobs in Kansas on Migrate Mate, which lists current Kansas openings updated regularly. Search the listings, find the roles that match your background and target area, and apply directly to the ones that fit.
