Sales Jobs in San Francisco: Frequently Asked Questions
How do I get a sales job in San Francisco?
The strongest path into San Francisco sales is targeting the city's dominant sectors: enterprise SaaS, fintech, and cybersecurity, where most local hiring concentrates in SoMa and the Financial District. Employers here tend to favor candidates who understand consultative or solution-based selling, not just transactional volume. Familiarity with tools like Salesforce and experience selling to technical buyers gives candidates a clear edge in this market.
Which companies hire saless in San Francisco?
San Francisco sales roles are posted by Ramp, Visa, and Hertz and others right now, based on current listings on Migrate Mate as of September 2026. The city's employer base skews heavily toward growth-stage tech companies and established enterprise software firms, alongside financial services companies headquartered in the Financial District.
Are there remote sales jobs in San Francisco?
Yes, though it depends on the role: inside sales and business development representative positions are far more remote-friendly than field or account executive roles requiring in-person client meetings. About 100% of sales openings tied to San Francisco are remote or hybrid as of September 2026, with the highest concentration of remote flexibility among SaaS and cloud software companies based in SoMa.
How can I get a sales job in San Francisco with little or no experience?
The most realistic entry point is a business development representative or sales development representative role at a SoMa or Mission Bay SaaS startup, where many companies actively hire candidates without a sales background and provide structured training. Demonstrating comfort with CRM tools, cold outreach, and tech products helps significantly. Some enterprise software firms also run formal sales associate programs designed for early-career hires.
