Sales Officer Jobs in Maine: Frequently Asked Questions
How do you become a sales officer in Maine?
The path depends on the sector. For insurance sales, you must obtain a Maine insurance producer license through the Maine Bureau of Insurance, which requires completing a pre-licensing course and passing a state exam before you can sell. For financial products, FINRA Series licenses apply. Most Maine employers hiring for general sales officer roles expect a bachelor's degree in business or a related field plus at least one to two years of sales experience in a related industry.
Which companies hire sales officers in Maine?
Employers hiring sales officers in Maine right now include Rocket, Evernorth, and Assistance Plus, based on current listings on Migrate Mate as of July 2026. Maine's insurance and financial services sectors, anchored by companies like Unum and Bangor Savings Bank, generate some of the most consistent demand for experienced sales officers in the state.
Which Maine cities have the most sales officer jobs?
Portland, Maine, and Bangor are the Maine cities with the most sales officer openings. Portland drives the majority of listings as the state's commercial and financial center, while Bangor and Augusta generate steady demand through regional insurance carriers, healthcare organizations, and state government-adjacent contractors that staff business development roles.
Are there remote sales officer jobs in Maine?
Yes, and more than some field-based roles, though it depends heavily on the product and territory. About 25% of sales officer openings tied to Maine are remote or hybrid as of July 2026, reflecting employer flexibility for account management and inside sales functions. Roles tied to in-person client relationships, territory management, or branch-based financial sales are more likely to require on-site presence.
How can I get hired as a sales officer in Maine with little or no experience?
The most realistic entry path is a sales development representative or associate account executive role, which Maine employers in insurance, fintech, and healthcare technology regularly post for candidates without a long sales history. Unum and Bangor Savings Bank both run structured onboarding programs that bring in new talent. Completing the Maine insurance producer pre-licensing course adds a concrete credential that distinguishes you from other applicants even before you have quota-carrying experience.
Where can I find and apply to sales officer jobs in Maine?
You can find and apply to sales officer jobs in Maine on Migrate Mate, which lists current openings across Portland, Bangor, Augusta, and the rest of the state. Search the listings, find roles that fit your background and target sector, and apply directly to the employers posting them.
